Was out on a little lochan in the hills about half a mile from the foreshore. Had put out a trail cam as I was interested in duck and there were a few on the cam plus a mink . Settled down and heard a honking and a pair of Canada geese came ploughing in, now Canada geese are pretty scarce here about and I dropped one. Well pleased then a a load more goose music and must have been Eighty plus grey geese came in , still coming in as I left ....

New farm contractor by me did the combining last week, must have had lads out with shotguns following the combine. I took dogs out following morning and counted 4 dead hares left in the first field side along with a load of rabbits..... feckin livid I was ..

It’s strange how each pond is different, some day, some night ponds. I had one that one year had a great teal flight at sunrise but other years was a dusk flight pond.......however you look at it, they are great free sport and some of the most exciting shooting you can ask for...

Yes they are mate, recently made myself a cold smoker out of an old filing cabinet and been curing and smoking some fillets. Smoked pollock chowder has been good.

I have to come to the conclusion it’s an age thing mate, people of our age (and I’m guessing you are late 40’s to 50.....give or take ?) have seen our parents grow up with certain values and them and us were brought up in a time when this shit simply wasn’t out there......the number of times my teenage daughter has piped up ‘but that’s racist dad’ and I have explained that it isn’t ....it’s the truth and the common sense approach.......I sometimes regret I wasn’t born 30 years previous, a time when a chap was a chap, men provided, women looked after the home .....you could come home with a fis

Wilf, you feed your chucks year round ?....they penned ?..... I have a dozen that wander over a couple of acres that I only feed over winter, they pretty much self sufficient .....they lay all over the shop mind you !

Cheers mate, they sure are sporting fish. Don't need to fish miles out for them up here, probably 50 yards off the beach as long as there is kelp and features they will be there. They hit with a bang and then come up fairly easy but once near the surface they nosedive for the bottom and there is not a lot you can do with them at that point ! Am down your way next month, fancy half an evening out chasing a Bass, can you recommend any boats ?
