  2. swap the dummy for a dead rabbit, or skin the rabbit and tie some skin on the dummy. give this a try, it will hold his attention longer than just the dummy
  3. yes i can boyo, up those dales can be very dark, most of my permision aint that dark but up around arncliffe 20 year ago i remember some terrible dark nights, as you say you could not see your hand in front of your face, and the lamp was on evry few paces, just so you didnt trip up
  4. It is a whole different ball game. Most of the old poachers i grew up around would have never dreamed of using a dog with the long line being the preferd method.atb dell same round here poacher, bant line
  5. i think blucher is refering to NIGHT TIME longnetting, most of us that ferret have dogs that will work with a long nett in the day surrounding a warren. but nightime pegging and using a dog is a hole diffrent ballgame
  6. 410's 22's you lot are a bunch of slack jawed faggots, this is how you do it
  7. but what happens when these lighter even more fragile dogs take a bad fall or hit a fence do they jump back up and carry on hunting or are you taking them to the vets with a broken leg. i would be scared shitless in putting years of work into a dog for it to fall and it be game over. i would probly own one to mess about with but always have me sterdy lurcher for serious work. my bull/whip/grey x bed/whip at 20 months hit a bailer flat out and put all his back out had i choose to retire him even tho they said he probly could run in time. now think if that was one of them whip/greys dead dog. wo
  8. herer's another reason for the whipp/grey cross, . i dont know if this has been metioned early. as i havent read all the thread. BREEDING OTHER LURCHERS. in some ways i think using a whipp grey is a better prospect than a pure grey , for certain jobs, mainly ferreting. adding the whippet lightens the bone , so you could have a dog the same hight as a pure grey but would be lighter in weight.
  9. BOXES ARE BEST, but i still use a bag somtimes, like albert said a mony bag from the bank tied with a bit of string at the top, i always use the same small jil and she's used to it, and curls up asleep in my coat pocket. but only use this method when out for a sly mooch with a few nets and the dog
  10. it says in this post its your mate thats doing holidays , but now its you !!
  11. i saw him many times , dooing security at his shows, and to be honest i always thought he was PANTS , seen him year after year , same old shit , keeps getting that pretend cock out and trying to make jokes just by saying bollox or f**k off. theres far better comedians out there
  12. from the other posts you put up it sounded like you were going to run it over a weekend with all the entrants there at the same time, you said somthing about putting minibusses on for evryone to get there???????? also what do you mean all rabbits must be walked up, ??????? is this a day time comp???
  13. spodge wone a hole load of comps around 2004 seen him run myself on a few ocasions blessed with staminar and great speed, seen him kill on small rolling land as well as fen but like the others i dont know if he was mated to the bitch

  15. not an island cooper, Alsace is a region on the german french border
  16. the name alsation was given to the german shepard during the war, as evrything to do with germany was frowned upon so they named it after the region of alsas
  17. come on sort this out lads what do i have to sort out micheal ?????????
  18. come on now , dont drag me in to it you know full well im not in it or helping in any way. personly i would NOT have counted it. but they did chuck it away , and sh said no it should still count. the thing is hindsight is a wonderfull thing, i bet ldr and charty, are wishing they had left it there in that ditch. then there would be none of this.
  19. credability and reputation and never shut up about the nlrc Lve the irony of the above statment, well said jeterrier
  20. how wi the winer of each heat be judged , wil it be on the amount of rabbits cought. or do you plan to award points like in coursing , ????
  21. HERES SOME REASONS FOR YA THE WHIPP/GREY, wil have more staminar than a pure grey, and more speed than a whippet, it wil genraly be larger than a whippet. This does not make any sense how will it make it have more stamina then a pure grey when a whippet runs out off lungs well before a grey???? And how can yea have more speed tehn a whippet when the whippet is the fastest dog in the world or 60 metres or so sp dont under stand your point?? YOUR deluded if you think a whipet is faster than a grey, and whippets wil run round a day catching rabbits, you wil also get more courses out
  22. HERES SOME REASONS FOR YA THE WHIPP/GREY, wil have more staminar than a pure grey, and more speed than a whippet, it wil genraly be larger than a whippet.
  23. Your asking alot of questions about lethal substances, who's upset you
  24. YEP WAY OFF MARK SKINTZ mark threw the towl in after 1 hour and 45 mins, we had cought 20 rabbits at that time. marks dog had also missed 5 rabbits and bruce 2 rabbits. if we had carried on for the remainding 1 hour and 15 mins the score would have been somewhere near 30 to 40 rabbits, wich i think you will agree being a respectable score. last year i judged a number of heats on my land in the dales. and was also running in a few. the one thing i found across the board with all competitors myself included , was that the compition was slower running than a normal night lamping wit
