  2. great pics mate but stop the fecking text talk!
  3. its great to see people working them, especially in all the disciplines they were created to work. great looking dog mate - is that the one that has just had pups? if so, how long will it be before she can get back into shape and work?
  4. great dobg/pics mate, im pleased for you that is very strange though, there is a nice little vizsla in my village named zara who has just had pups... do you live in cornwall?
  5. looking very good mate! want to send some over to sunny old england? :11:
  6. good luck mate, keep us informed
  7. i have seen how soft they are, a while ago, last season i think it was i saw a bloke picking up with one, at one point a shot bird landed about 20 feet away from him, his vizsla made to get it and all he did was hiss and, his dog sat back down. so do you guys rate them? how do they compare to other retrievers in working standard? will they work cover to get a shot bird? will they constantly be waiting for your signal, or do they work more by their own accord? as i said, i really dont know much on this breed, any info at all would be helpfull!
  8. when your dog is eating, go into the next room, shut the door and start banging pots and pans together. if your dog stops eating and looks worried, do it abit quieter and further away. if your dog doesnt notice, get gradually closer every day and then start doing it at any given time. to be honest you've really gotta let your pup be a pup for abit mate, but this will just speed up the process. any more info you want, pm me
  9. cant argue with it mate - they are stunning - a good bird puller in more ways than one!!!! :11: apologies for the shitty pun, i couldnt help myself :11:
  10. some of the shoots over here are like that :11: its just good to completely trust your dog. is there a size difference between the two dogs? i think the reason that few people in the shooting scene is because they are too big, the trend is now for smaller dogs, that can get into cover easier. i'd love to see some work though.
  11. dont beat mate - i pick up with my dogs over here it definately is a requirement, just imagine this; practically all the guns that come to the shoots im part of are millionaires - and posh b*****ds at that. then theres me, not much money, wearing barbour jacket and boots and generally looking like a farmers son :11: if my dogs cannot sit there and wait for me to give the command to retrieve, the guns will get pissed off (and i dont get tipped! ) plus its always safer for a dog to be under the complete control of her master. JMO. why is it bad to compare gwp's to gsp's? just an ignor
  12. just out of interest, how difficult are they to obedience trainn etc - ie, heel, stay and training to the gun? because i have always demanded that my gundogs leave any bird/animal untill i give the command. my old goldie could have a fresh shot bird land 5 yards away, be writhing and making noise, and she wouldnt move 'till i said to...well when she hit 18months ish anyway! reason im telling you this is because i have heard such mixed opinions on gwp's as far as steadiness etc is concerened.
  13. nice sounding dogs mate do you work them on shoots etc? what ge do you start them on larger game and how do you do it?
  14. do you use your for feather? if soo, how steady are they on the field?
  15. I don't have mine anymore I had to pass her on(to a working home) due to the usual boring domestic type stuff. Still enough of that. She was great with the obedience but was almost scared of game . This eventually became a good thing as she'd never even think of chasing so getting her to drop was always easy. She eventually cottoned on but my difficulty was that I couldn't get access to tame birds to teach her to point and other than my mates weimaraner couldn't work her with a dog that was already working. If i could have had either or both she'd have come on a lot quicker. With regards how
  16. My sister has just brought an airedale pup from somewhere is wales for £550 show lines probably in that case mate fecking ruin any good dogs they come across those showing b*****ds!
  17. thanks for the great replies guys - keep 'em coming! -guiness, how does your vizsla work and what do you mean it was hard to get it working? purely as a side note, how hard is it to find working vizsla breeders?
  18. great pics mate how do the two breeds compare in terms of style of hunting and working ability?
  19. seen a couple of these around recently on the shooting scene, how do you guys rate them. of the vizsla's i've seen, apart from being beautiful dogs, they seem to have good noses and work hard. weimaraners seem to me like they'er abit more stubborn and want to do there own thing. any feedback would be appreciated. thanks, matt
  20. good luck mate - remember to bring your camera
  21. great pics ds! the world is a better place now... :11: my pup hasnt really met one properly - the terrier is a menace on em though!
  22. if you haven't owned a working gundog before, i'd stay away from cockers, they seem to love hunting one day, and the next they dont want anything to do with it! i would disagree with bodach though, they only get tired when they are unfit - much the same as any other dog! :11: brilliant nose and style of hunting though.
