  1. Yep had all colours over the years , black , ginger, silver , blue grey and piebald
  2. Black rabbits common in the Dale's, had this one the other night.
  3. Doesn't matter what colour they are they still get shot , they all do the same damage ?
  4. Well after foxing, stalking and pigeon shooting this week , yesterday evening it was the time to go rabbitting. Called up a permission for last hour before dark but most fields were high cover or barley. Anyway just wanted to show my face as haven't been for a few months and had a bit craic with the farmer. Didn't see many rabbits at all but managed a black one before dark , then a couple of hours after dark in a couple of grass fields and ended up with a few ?
  5. I miss those days dialing in. I remember we were in Scotland on the goats and he shot a goat at 500 yds so I said give me a go as there was others still standing. I dropped a 2nd one at 500 yds, great feeling.
  6. My mate used to be right into long range shooting but you need deep pockets to do it justice. You need a custom built rifle for starters and top end scope. Then you must home load and need good range finding binoculars plus kestrel wind meter. I used to love watching him shoot it was a delight. He had a 1inch group at 500 yds. Furthest shot I saw him pull off was 1020 yd red hind in Scotland. Used to shoot rabbits and hares all the time at between 500 and 800 yards. If we were out and spotted a roe instead of stalking in closer we would stalk further away ?
  7. Got to mate as rain forecast from Thursday
  8. Well a day of 2 halves today , out at 4.30 am and managed a murder buck , good one to take off the ground as could do serious damage in the rut. Then in the afternoon I sat on a barley stubble, not many birds about but what there was decoyed fantastic.
  9. Because I'm a skilled professional mate ?????? no need for thermal and nv.
  10. Should be as that's only 1 out of one litter and 2 out the other plus I couldn't do the field I wanted to do as still uncut rape , a field that usually produces ??
  11. Just winding you up mate. I have shot a few foxes with mine and dont rate it either , most were runners. If going foxing I take the centrefire, foxes were opportunistic whilst rabbitting. I have shot rabbits and hares with it too that weren't dead either.
  12. Well it turned out to be a great night. 1st port of call was a farm with 3 barley stubbles. I set up in the 1st field and after 20 mins of calling had a cub coming in lovely to hare distress call , shot at around 120 yds but it was a runner dropping after around 50 yds , amazes me at times. Set up on the 3rd field and had a vixen barking her alarm call over the river over the boundary so nothing showed here. On to the next farm and 1st call where I was hopeful produced nothing so headed down to the next field with rushes adjacent a copse. No need to call as spotted a fox straight away , a
  13. Just a derelict barn but had a pair of little owls in it.
  14. Well I've been out since 4.30 and no sign of the buck , only saw a doe. Feeling hungry I headed back to the car and on route spotted a bunny sitting 100 yds away , so shot it with the .243 , contrary to popular belief hardly any damage so the dog will be having rabbit for tea as the freezer is getting a bit low on venison for him. Need to start filling it up soon with bunnies. Just had my pizza and off out again to see if I have any better luck with the foxes ?
  15. Surprised you got out mate as the weather was mist and drizzle all night up here. I was having a new boiler fitted so was indoors all day but not to worry as I've got all week off to get some shooting done. Off out tonight to try for an old buck I've been after then lamping to see if any foxes about?
  16. I do all my shooting on foot for that very reason , I think if you are in a vehicle you miss out a lot of ground. Plus it keeps you fitter as well.
  17. SL .....that is a small cub. I'm impressed by having fallow , roe and munty in the same field ???
  18. I used to go out with other people for a lot of years but got sick of ringing them to go out and couldn't make it. Once out they often wanted to be home , I dont have time limits as it ruins the night. I now go solo and find it much better as go out when you want, come home when you want and get to do the shooting. I found I got better results too. ??
  19. Talk about pressure...I wouldn't like the keeper to say to me "Dont miss " . Adam did well and am sure was very relieved when it dropped ?Come on Stav we want to hear about the miss , don't worry we all do it.
