  1. Geese are bigger and easier to hit [BANNED TEXT] ??
  2. Great trip Stav, nice when it goes to plan. If I was you I would have a go at the geese on your next trip , great fun.
  3. Yes, Scottish Borders. Well the rain stopped so I was back out to play. Most of the farm was still covered in white long grass so I was limited to where I could go. I set up in the same field that I shot the first fox which is gorse , white grass and rushes but knew there would be more about. Anyway after various calling and frustration due to foxes not being visible enough in long grass I ended up shooting 4 in this field but only picked 3 , couldn't find one in the long grass ?
  4. Just posting this while I sit in the car waiting for the rain and drizzle to clear ? Really dark night but struggle to see through the drizzle. I pulled up at a gateway and immediately saw eyes in the field so got rifle out of car , on sticks and 1st fox in the bag . There was another set of eyes in the rushes which I dismissed as a hare , but on approaching to pick up its sibling I soon realised it was another fox but my rifle was in the car , typical it was a broadside 40 yd shot too ?? never mind if this rain stops I will hopefully get onto a few ??
  5. I'm expecting double figures Mr Stavross ????????????
  6. Not my strong point either , in fact I havent put anything on the caller for years , cant quite remember how it's done now ? Worth getting that call though ?
  7. Have you not got the chicken in distress call SL ? I have called a lot of foxes with it , works great if you need to get the call out a long way. I havent been out for foxes for what seems like an age , been busy shotgun shooting so might have a trip to Scotland tomorrow for a session . ?? Oh and Stav have a good weekend .
  8. 1st September means ?? so I was off out at 4.30am and set up by 5am in the grey drizzle this morning full of anticipation as there are a few geese in the area ? As dawn was breaking a pack of 5 mallard came in to the goose decoys, I shot at the lead bird and 2 dropped ? a couple of more came and I bagged another 2 , so 4 mallard in the bag and then the geese started to move. A pair came in and I got a right and left then a few skeins came in and I added a few more to the bag. Well pleased with the 1st day of the season , I also lit up a fox in the headlights as I drove in to the farm and ha
  9. Later on I had a ride to the far end of the ground and another wheat stubble was lifting with pigeons that I didn't know about ..........bloody typical ?
  10. Another couple of hours on some wheat stubble yesterday afternoon , very bright ,still and hot and hardly a bird moving but sat it out and managed a few .....
  11. Better off just culling them all as they dont like flying, better off getting rid of them . Should pay guns to shoot them ?
  12. Does absolutely nothing for me standing in a field waiting for birds to be driven over me , put me in a hide shooting crows now that's much better ?
  13. Yep , give me rough shooting over driven anyway. I just love raking about for squirrels or magpies. Looking forward to this season with Bert as last season was his 1st and hopefully having some good days...
  14. This is what I have always found with small syndicates , a small few do all the work , which is why I've jacked mine cant be arsed with the hassle anymore. Looking forward to this season just rough shooting with my little dog , more enjoyable and making memories.
  15. Good result SL , at the end of the day it is just taking the tools of the trade to work with you. Was it caching anything in the hole ?
  16. Saw Bernard at Blackpool in my twenties, absolutely hilarious, dont make them like that anymore. Also saw Chubby 3 times a long time ago and as said old hat now but funny back then.
  17. Come on then give us a report on the Helion ?
  18. Nice one Stav , them fallow cant hide now ??
  19. I have often thought how technology is progressing. One day your scope will just be a mini computer which will range the target and adjust the scope for elevation and windage, press a button and job done. No more missing which is a shame as shooting will just be like a PC game .Sad really?
  20. I bet it was saturated last night Stav , the downpours round here were savage , roads flooded all over. Them Helions are great bet you cant wait to use it. Glad to hear the fallow are showing , must get round to having a look soon ?
  21. Well it got to 3pm and it had faired up so I thought bugger it I'm off out with the shotgun. On arrival at the stubble field about 30 corvids took off. I got set up and it was a bit slow but shot well . I noticed a squirrel pop out onto the wheat and back to the hedge , it did this a couple of times so I headed over to ambush it on its next appearance but I spotted it in the tree and down it came ? Back to my hide and shortly afterwards spotted another squirrel so popped back over and bagged this one too. On packing my hide away a bunny appeared down the hedge so after stalking in closer it w
  22. Bloody hell have you won the lottery or summat ?
  23. This rain is really pi55ing me off as I have a wheat stubble with hundreds of birds on it to shoot ?Hopefully it will be a bit better tomorrow . Have a good trip with Mr Foxxer Stav .....will be nice to see plenty foxes ?
