1st chance to get out this week as had a bad cold last 3 days but on the mend ? Checked field at back of farm to see if drilled yet but no 'farmer said next week. Nothing about , shot 3 birds for 3 shots ?then checked out small copse and bagged a squizzer. Picked up a few spent cartridges and am now just sitting in the wood relaxing ? Anyone know what the small yellow flower is?

My mate has just taken on a stalking lease in Northumberland from February and hasn't had a chance to get out yet .The forester has been on to him to thin the deer out so he asked me to go with him yesterday , hes blind as a bat and I always guide and spot for him as I have eyes like a sh*t house rat ? As we drove around the ground I spied 3 roe laid out on the lea side of the wood out of the wind and enjoying the afternoon sunshine. I hatched a plan and we stalked to within eighty yds of them , carefully my mate got up on his sticks and head shot a doe kid ? We then headed for a bit

That's fair enough when the farmer doesnt want them shot but when a landowner asks you too or they pick up good ground and shoot 2 deer a year it is really frustrating.

Always pains me when people have good deer ground and arent interested yet guys who are keen cant find decent ground

Seeing as the sun was shining and the Mrs and daughter went out shopping I decided to do a recce on my local ground to see if there was any bucks about. After watching 3 does suddenly a nice clean 6 pointer came trotting towards me , I was lying down in a field and he came within 20 yards of me and then disappeared through the hedge ? I was now losing the light and was heading back to the farm when I checked one last field , Bingo , 3 roe out feeding. I was able to quickly cover the ground and get into position seeing as I had very little light left. Good job I have a swaro scope as don't thin
