  1. I had an evening wander around a sheep farm as a few lambs out now. I eventually ended up heading for a small copse and decided to lay and watch until dark. There is an old buck who resides here , I saw him 3 times last year but could never get a shot.Tonight he basically gave himself up , I had literally just settled into my position and 2 minutes later he appeared 150 yds away broadside. He was going back and better off the ground to let a younger buck move in ?
  2. PTS ...dont pass it on . Have you not read about all the kids killed recently by dogs ffs
  3. Popped out with my mate last night to see if we could catch up with a hen killer. New permission which we looked at last week with no foxes seen but a few rabbits. Therefore I took my .22 as well to try out the new Hawke scope. The rabbits were very lamp shy compared to last week so I think the lurcher boys had been out. Shot a few rabbits but no sign of the fox until we got back to the farm and there it was trotting through the farm yard ?
  4. Great 1st post asking for shooting.
  5. Yep I heard 1k a tonne for fertiliser, they are just taking the pi$$
  6. Depends on how much graft they are getting , if just pi$$ing about catching a dozen or so Jill's are fine but if you doing numbers say 60 -80 hobs are better as have more stamina and can take more punishment from getting kicked all day. Jill's sometimes tire and cant take as much punishment and get sick.
  7. The rabbits will have been on Woodgas ground back in the days of the lamping competition ?
  8. The song thrushes will thank you ' hard to believe that a bird that was once very common is now scarce. I have seen a couple recently ?
  9. That will be pinks though is it , greylags and Canadas much easier. 1st September last season.
  10. Brilliant, I'm just waiting for a field to be drilled this week. Hopefully get a good day on the corvids ?
  11. Did that monstrosity get demolished?
  12. I know what you mean , when I was younger I was out nearly every night with my mate. Now he doesnt shoot at all. I have always been super keen and literally dont know anyone now as keen as me and out as much as me .....perhaps they are a dying breed.
  13. Better off on your own mate ?Years ago sometimes I used to ring 3 or 4 to go out lamping and when Ikept getting the answer NO I decided Feck them all and went solo. Better results and better craic ??
  14. Love 1st light as always expect to see something. Mothers Day tomorrow so family day out at the Coast for fish and chips and ice cream ?
  15. Well I was up at 4.30 and on the ground for 5am. Nice morning and sure I would see something. As I got to a likely spot a doe was spotted moving hastily towards me but no chance of a shot , couple of minutes later a dog Walker appears who had obviously bumped the deer , this was only 5.30 ? Anyway continuing on I spied 2 does disappearing into a hedge of holly. I waited until they were out of sight and stalked in along the hedgerow to around 50 yds from them , turned out to be 3 doe followers. I had to wait until one turned broadside which wasnt long and first deer lay on the grass ?
  16. Gets very addictive mate , I can't stop now picked up hundreds and hundreds.?
  17. I'm out 1st thing too , luckily only a mile from home so be on the ground at 5am . Out for a doe but reccying for bucks , saw a clean 6 last week so need to see if anything else about.
