Just sitting out now watching the edge of woodland to see if anything shows. Cant help myself still collecting cartridges ?

Looks like a lot of farm shoots will just have to have rough/walkabout days which I prefer....

Been reading about gazumping going on too....poults are £5 but some commercial shoots have been offering £10 a poult to jump the queue. Pellets £300 per tonne too...

Its going to be a bit of a problem for small shoots this season, price of poults (if you can get them ) , wheat and fuel all add up. Syndicate prices will have to increase but they either suffer it or fold. Glad I shoot vermin etc all year round and dont rely on pheasant shooting ?

Yep you do get foxes that are IR shy , seen it a few times. Good luck ?

Out again yesterday evening on my mates ground to try for his 1st buck on his new lease. On arrival at the ground I glassed the 1st field of wheat and spotted a nice clean 6 pointer out feeding. I hatched a plan to stalk down inside the shelter belt and get within range . Once we were a couple of hundred yards away I spied through the fence to discover that there was now 4 roe in the field. We squeezed through the strands of the fence and crawled forward a bit until we were ready for the shot. Once the buck turned broadside my mate dropped him on the spot at 205 paces with a low neck shot ?

Out for a few hours before dusk last night. 1st thing I encountered was a guy with his dog running all over the place so I headed on over and explained it was private land and that I was shooting so from a safety perspective he shouldn't be there , he totally understood and phoned his 10 year old daughter and friend and told them to come out of the woods as they had to go. To be fair he was a nice guy who didnt have a problem and duly left. I then headed for the wood and saw 2 roe trotting along the far bank. I backtracked out of the wood and headed to where I thought they were going. As

A few hours on a drilling this afternoon seeing as it wasnt raining ? Not a lot of birds about but still managed 33 so not too bad and I shot OK ? Farmer still has main field to drill which after speaking to him might be Sunday so should get another day at them next week.

I've shot thousands of rabbits with my .22 as well , I've had it probably 30 years and it's never been cleaned.?

I still prefer to be out hunting for my quarry , makes you feel alive. I suppose when I get old I may prefer the comfort of armchair hunting ?

After getting my buck I had a wander around the lambing fields to check if Charlie was about. Nothing seen so put out the caller and after 16 mins with hare distress calling this last years vixen appeared ?
