  1. My Boxing Day shoot today. Plan was to try for a pheasant , but it was extremely hard work. The pheasants on this farm are the most wild and wily in the country. I saw a few but impossible to get within rifle range yet alone shotgun range ? I eventually cornered one between a fence and a fallen tree so it had no option but to fly , I dropped it as it flew over the top of the wood ? Managed 5 squirrels but only picked 3 as 2 fell over a cliff... Ended the session trying to shoot some woodies as they were coming in to a small copse , fast and jinking made for good sport ...I
  2. I always have a wander out on Boxing Day , not sure if its pheasants, deer or fox or all of them ??
  3. I know ...you lot are spoilt with deer and foxes. Bleak up North ?
  4. Yep it would be boring shooting them every night ??? Much better struggling to find them ?
  5. Brilliant pic , yet to bag a timberprick this season.
  6. Both methods work , more than one way to skin a cat as they say. I prefer the sporting way of stalking them with the shotgun, would get bored sitting for hours with only getting a couple of shots. Air gun shooting is just target shooting but shotgun gets more varied , running flat out on the ground , running up trees and along branches plus the chance of right and lefts ? Plus the chance to add other flying quarry to the bag ?
  7. I've used a .22lr before but it gets frustrating when you cant take a lot of the shots for fear of ricochets If you are firing into muck heaps or soil you will be OK.
  8. Wonder if any dumping has been going on ?
  9. Utter bollocks ?? I'd rather be mooching about than freezing my bollocks off sitting in a hide being bored waiting to shoot a couple off a feeder. I've had 50 so far this season so not doing bad and pretty much on top of .
  10. Yep if you've got pheasant feeders no need for anything else but I prefer to mooch about stalking them with the shotty and shooting them fleeing through the trees.
  11. Have a shotgun day on the squizzers mate and I will give you a hand ?
  12. Should have been legalised a long time ago , it's my life and I should be able to choose when it ends.
  13. I've had them run on 100 yds unaware they are dead , incredible really. This fox last night though was knocked over and struggling to move , cant believe I never found it this morning with the dog , I thought it would be a formality. Must be underground or tucked under some tight cover ?
  14. Yep those greys are tough little buggers. I've seen them shot in the head many a time and when picking them up they're still alive.
