  1. This is why I still love my torch, I love to see the ruby eyes. If my quarry gets away that's OK because it means there will be future sport. My enjoyment is from calling foxes , I let my mate shoot them if we are out as a team as it means more to him , I only shoot if out solo. I get more satisfaction putting quarry in front of others which I have done now for about 30 years for various people. I am now actually enjoying the shotgun shooting more than the rifle these days.
  2. I presume they are all pretty much the same ..it just depends on personal preference.
  3. Robin is not independent though being sponsored by Hik he has to promote them and not Pard. You need to look at an independent review where both scopes have a side by side comparison. They are similarly priced but the Pard has an additional LRF and ballistic calculator plus a circular display. At the end of the day it again boils down to personal preference. I watched a review of the Pard and it came out great.
  4. Well thank you SL. I have just completed my suspension and read the above posts. Going forward I will not make any more negative comments and hopefully get this section back to the way it used to be. I am a very reactive person and as such respond quickly to any negativity thrown in my direction but seeing as its nearly New Year my resolution will be to be nice to everyone. I come on here to read about shooting as that is my passion so let's keep it to that. A few pics from this week ?
  5. At least he got out there not like all the other pretenders on here.
  6. Why is this site called The Hunting Life ? 70000 members and about 70 actually get out and hunt. Full of old men and pretenders and wanabees ???
  7. Nonsense , just a bit of light hearted banter. How come you have singled me out when a lot worse is said in the General section .
  8. And plenty wounded deer running about .
  9. .243 lead free bullets are already available mate from 55grn to eighty and 90 grn. .243 works fine on large deer , it has been used since the 60s on large deer like the North American Elk so no need to change. In England just use the eighty or ninety grain which is fine. In Scotland at the moment there is consultation to reduce the minimum legal requirement of 100 grn for large deer . I will continue to use lead until the day that it is not legal....whenever that may be.
  10. Your duck flight was much more successful than mine . Got an invite yesterday, lads have been watching 60+ coming in , just my luck nothing ? Anyway went lamping afterwards and got a vixen ?
  11. I know mate , last 3 I have shot have given away and the rest are dog food. Let me know when you are culling at end of season and I will give you a hand ?
  12. I wouldn't grumble mate sounds like a cracking permission . Small gesture to butcher a deer I wouldn't think twice. I am hopeful tonight of getting a couple, 1 is on my mates trailcam regularly ?
  13. I saw a few Scottish Wildcats years ago when stalking near Forfar . At that time I think there was a good population in that area.
