  9. After speaking to the keeper last nite , he said the hunt had been over on Saturday and pushed out 2 foxes from some gorse. So after a quick shine with the lamp ended up with a dog fox in a nearby stubble field
  10. Yep its a good read, better reading stuff from people who actually get out there and do it rather than just dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. The mag folded after only 3 months due to financial problems. Its a pity as it was very well produced
  12. Too true mate! Each shot must be judged on its merits , take the best option available to you at that time!!!
  13. Yes Peg has a point about head shots , but I have never seen a head shot deer run off ever.I have though seen 2 neck shot deer run off , 1st one was a fallow buck which I dropped on the spot only for it to run off as we approached it, luckily it was dispatched a few fields further on.I also neck shot a red stag which did the same thing , but unfortunately we lost it!! I have never seen a roe get away with a head or neck shot though!!!
  14. I was speaking to a farmer recently who said he would be lambing shortly and asked if I would have a look about and see if I could mop up a fox or two. Anyway , in the 1st field I flicked on the lamp and caught 2 pairs of bright orange eyes glaring back at me, I took the dog fox at about 100yards but unfortunately the vixen did a runner!!! The farmer was well pleased saying as I left "You better come back for the other bugger"
  15. I agree .22/250 is an excellent fox calibre, very flat and fast. It also is brilliant on Roe in Scotland.I have probably shot more roe in Scotland with my .22/250 than my .243 , it really knocks them over well!!!
  16. Neck if possible , if not a high lung shot does the job
  17. The cheapest way is to just squeak using your hand mate!! Works better than shop bought calls!!!!
