  1. Now Now Colin, you know it is frowned upon in the deer world to head shoot them I prefer the neck shot if available , but when you shoot most deer at 1000 yards its not that easy nice1 foxhunter could do with a joint of venison if there's any going spare Already sold mate , but if you were here you could haved had some!! .243 Tikka T3
  2. Called into the farm last night to let the farmer know that I had shot 2 foxes for him as he had asked me to sort them as they have had 12 of his hens . He was happy with this and asked "Have you had any of those deer yet" I replied that I had only seen does but was going now to see what I could find I stalked into a doe to a distance of about 70 yds in a field of oats and watched her feeding for about 20 mins before carrying on . After stalking round the rest of the farm I finally arrived at a rough patch of ground and spotted a roebuck under a hawthorn bush at about yards
  3. Glad to hear your bitch hasnt broken her leg mate. Concentrate on getting her right before running her again

  5. My mate shot this buck off my stalking sticks at approx 100yds 9.30PM Followed by charlie at 10.30 PM
  6. That fox probably weighed about 14 lb , not that big really. We do get them over here up to around 20 lbs , I know bigger foxes have been shot up to about 26 lb but that is very rare. The heaviest I have personally shot was 18 lb.
  7. As it was a sunny evening I ventured out to a spot where a fox had been seen working. I arrived at 8pm and got set up in a hedge overlooking a rushy field by about 8.20. I hadnt been sat 10 mins when I glanced to my right and saw a fox coming out of the rushes only 60 yards from me it was a scabby thing !!!
  8. Its a beatiful place with plenty of game!!!!
  9. I heard about that as well , must be true
  10. I was up and about at 4.30 am this morning , having got my car back as a local farmer has been losing hens. Had to scrape the frost from the windscreen , middle of May I thought it was  Anyway first thing I saw was 2 roe does crossing a field shortly followed by a fox which disappeared into some rushes as I was trying to get a shot :realmad: Then I spied another fox crossing the same field towards me , this one again disappeared into the rushes :realmad: so I waited a couple of minutes and out it popped walking straight at me big mistake This fox was tin
  11. Well i have had the report back from the garage and all 16 valves were f****d. The bill is £500 which is bad enough but I thought it would be more , but I know nothing at all about motors.
  12. Alright Mik , Yep Ive had a good season so far, not sure if I will be up for the hinds. Those 2 days last season had me totally knackered I think im getting too old for the hill
  13. Out again stalking , saw loads of does but no bucks. At 1 point I had 6 does feeding in front of me ( those bucks are getting shy) Eventually I did manage to get this one though
  14. To be far,if you wherent such a gready b*****d you would have had your cam-belt changed so it doesnt snap Thats the crap bit about it Phil , I purposely had the cam belt changed about 12 months ago as I know the damage that can happen. I still havent heard from the garage yet about how bad it is but I have been told it might be cheaper to get a new car :realmad: The belt didnt snap but some other part sheared off
  15. Went out last nite for another wander and was lucky to catch this fella out feeding But success turned to disaster on the way home as my car broke down , called the AA and didnt get home for another 2 hrs :realmad: Bad news is I think the cam belt has gone
  16. Cant wait Woodga , should be a good couple of days
  17. What are you trying to imply my good friend
  18. Well had a look out for an hour last nite, 1st thing I spied was a roe doe feeding , so I watched for for about 10 mins gingerly picking off the flowers from a gorse bush. Then I continued and spotted another doe :realmad: where is the buck I thought ? anyway as I was watching this doe a fox jumped out of the wood onto a fence post , balancing like a cat before it descended into the ploughed field to bury its cache , this is when I bagged him After this I laid in wait spying onto a small clearing , when out popped 2 roe , a buck and and a doe. Anyway another good si
  19. Out at 5am yesterday morning , my mate took this really big buck , 61 lb it weighed with head and legs on Then I managed to grass a 4 pointer . good mornings stalking Nothing better than being out and about at first light watching the country side waking up . We also watched a fox mousing in a rough field for 5 or 10 mins , but left it as our intended quarry was bucks.
  20. Cracking stuff Its a real test to keep the rifle steady when the buck fever strikes
  21. You predator, was that hunt on the doorstep or up the road???
  22. We have all done it , but only a head shot is fatal , I would never advocate a chest shot as you will probably only wound the fox , this is total bad practice. If you are going to shoot foxes you should get a centrefire rifle and do the job properly , you owe it to your quarry
