  1. After speaking to the farmer last night I was told of a ewe that had died and had been cleared up by the foxes very quickly. I was told there must be a few about so could I shoot a few Well always willing to oblige I had a look with the lamp last nite and got a couple Saw a few that I couldnt get due to unsafe shots , but I will be back this week to have another go
  2. Welcome , that sure is a cracking head , what range did you take it at and where was the bullet placed???
  3. Well I was out and about at 4.15 am this morning , as soon as I arrived I spotted a fox crossing a field and disappear into some rushes. At the other side was a cut silage field , so I intended to lie there and give it a call but when I got there it was already crossing the field A quick shout stopped it in its tracks and that was that Continuing on I spotted a couple of roe does but no bucks , I got to within 10 yards of this one Myxy has also reared its ugly head already , saw a couple of rabbits this morning with it :realmad:
  4. That fox was 6 ft long making me look small :11: :11: I dont know how Im getting fatter as I dont eat much  Wait til lamping starts in earnest I will be as lean as a gazelle :11: :11: Yep Frank , it was a decent sized dog fox

  6. We decided to have a lie up on dusk at a nice spot overlooking some ground where we knew held some cubs Anyway after 2 hours of seeing nothing but a few hares , we were starting to think that nothing was going to show Then at 10 pm out popped a fox at the bottom of the green grass in above pic . It turned and stared straight in our direction ony to be bowled straight over Ian B , I thought you said there was nothing left near my home , well there is a lot more to follow :11: :11:

  11. Had a look out for a bit shine last night , unfortunately no fields were cut and the grass was very long. It was a nice windy night and there was intermittent showers , hoping to pick up some cubs . I was lucky enough to catch an eye on a gorse banking , looking through the scope I could see it was a fox lying down , head shot a vixen , happy now , travelled back home
  12. Good job done there mate , I was speaking to the shoot captain on our stalking ground yesterday and he asked if I could have a look out and thin some foxes out before the birds come. Anyway we had a look around a few cut silage fields and polished off a few cubs , easy going but this is fox control not sport
  13. Thanks Baldie, We will try the 87 gr and see how that goes
  14. My mate currently uses 58 grain v-max through his .243 Tikka T3 and it performs brilliantly. Now he is trying to get a heavier round for real long range shooting , the other day we tried 105 gr Lapia Scenar and they were shite , wouldnt group at all and bullets were tumbling and hitting the target sideways :realmad: Today he has tried 105gr A-max and 95 gr , same again cant get a decent group :realmad: Have you any suggestions as to which bullet weight , bullet , powder etc to try next as he is pulling hie hair ou!!!!!! What about trying 87 gr????? Thanks
  15. It certainly is Baldie and he is well impressed with it! Smashing stuff, well done FOXHUNTER. Whats the rifle and caliber? Frank. Tikka T3 .243 with T8
  16. Excellent mornings work mate ,well done.Bet you were over the moon
  17. Seeing as it was a lovely warm still evening , my mate phoned to have a look out with his new Schmit and Bender scope , its the new one costing £1500 and its the dogs b*****ks. Shot a little buck at long range Continued for a look about and spotted a fox in a freshly cut silage field, which he knocked over as well at 300yds Not a bad result 1st time out with new scope!!!
  18. The Buttolo is an excellent call. Use it in the rut and you can have bucks screaming in at you , but as foxdropper says they try and sneak round the back of you so keep your eyes peeled.I have found that if a buck is going to respond he usually does so pretty quickly so you should be set up ready to take a shot as soon as you start feeping. I was stalking last year on the hill at Loch Tay, I only pressed the call once and immediately had a doe come from about half a mile away to within 30 yards and that is on really open ground. I also called another doe which brought the buck with he
  19. My personal bests are hare @ 321 yards with rangefinder ,roe @ 354 yards with rangefinder ,fox @ 282yards with rangefinder. My mate shot a woodie with his .243 last week @ 428 yards , now thats impressive , again checked with rangefinder.
  20. Well done mate ,pleased for you Not that often 2 come along together
  21. Thats one hell of a perruque head , I have only seen pics in R Priors book about these , never seen one myself or indeed heard of anyone shooting one. What part of the country are you ? Apparently the Germans will pay big money as you say for freak heads Buck of a lifetime , well done mate
