  6. I agree with that as well. Nowt wrong with .243 ............270 is an awful calibre !! .243 is an excellent calibre for fox and roe , in fact great for all deer species ......
  7. Me and David travelled to my ground in the Scottish Borders yesterday afternoon arriving about 6.30pm , so it was straight out with the rifles to see what was skulking about. We decided to lay up watching onto a gorse patch hoping for any foxes or roebucks to be on the move........... David lying in wait ............. For some reason I looked behind us and spotted a fox that had just come out of the gorse , it was standing still with its head in the ground , so I spun round and released a 100 grn softpoint , the fox just casually walked away into the gorse and I was cursing th
  8. As I was sitting here just now on my computer I heard a loud BANG outside. On looking out the window I could see a large computer , fax etc lying in the middle ot the road. Also further down the road was a big black thing which I couldnt make out what it was. These items had literally fallen off the back of a van , anyway the van driver returned and I helped him move the debris from the road but not before a car came round the bend and hit the big black thing , which turned out to be a battery. The car just kept on going which I couldnt believe as it hit the battery at some speed flinging

    pet fox ?

Gummy Hodgson a well known terrier man from the North East always kept a pet fox , I once was at his house a lot of years ago and I couldnt believe my eyes it was like a pet dog. He had a big pen in his back garden and used to let the fox out on a night to wander the village , no-one ever touched his pet foxes as all the local dog lads knew it was Gummys !!!

  14. I decided to go for a wander around one of my farms yesterday just to see what I could see as I havent been there for a little while. It was quite a nice evening so I expected to see something. As I stalked along the edge of a small wood I came across a lamb carcasse along with pheasant remains and all the grass padded down , a sure sign cubs werent far away .......... On peering over the fence I could see the earth well kicked out , I never went near so hopefully the vixen wont shift them........ I continued on my travels and found where a buck had been fraying......

  21. Continued.................... Next day saw us out at 5am once again ( no rest for the wicked ) I spied a young buck lying in some grass , we stalked into him and FD whistled for him to stand but the buck had other ideas and just lay there. I had to take a head shot and was well pleased when I pulled it off ...........184 paces!! Midday saw me take another young buck after playing cat and mouse with him to get a safe shot........ Evening stalking................this was the highlight of my trip!!We spied a good buck some 600 yards away and stalked into as close as we could
