  1. Well last week saw me travel down to my good mates, Foxdropper in Wilts for a spot of stalking and lamping. On arrival he told me the keeper had phoned him to ask if he could deal with some cubs , so off we went in search and duly dealt with 3. Next morning saw us out at 5am , on arrival at the farm we spied a fox travelling down a fence line followed by another. We watched as the vixen caught up with the dog and lay beside him submissively in the grass. FD tried a call but the pair were too smitten with each other , then FD said "quick behind you " another fox had come to the cal

  5. I was kindly invited off my mate Alan to try for a buck in the Scottish Borders this morning. I arrived at 5.30am and it was raining. As we drove down to the area we were stalking I spied a deer in the half light but unfortunately it was a doe.We parked the car up and proceeded to stalk along the edge of some winter wheat when I spied 3 roe out at the far end of the field. On glassing them I could see one was a young cull buck. We stalked in on them but they had moved down into a little gulley which was actually to our advantage , I crawled forward through the soaking wet grass til I got about
  6. Millet , these were not pot shots mate but deliberate calculated neck shots , dropping both beasts on the spot dead. I shoot plenty deer in the heart and lungs as well , but this doesnt always drop them immediately. Therefore if I have a steady shot off the bipod I will go for a neck shot if possible , also saves on carcasse damage. Havent got my Level 1 and 2 for nowt you know :11:
  7. Hi mate , Roe buck season has just started on 1st april ends end of October , then does start til end of March. We are lucky that roe can be shot all year round , when bucks finish the does start. Cheers
  8. Out for a stalk again to catch up with some lamp shy foxes , as I was walking through the wood I noticed out of the corner of my eye a fox no more than 20 yards from me so I froze , It hadnt seen me but when it stepped out onto the track it looked me straight in the eye. We stared at each other for about 5 second then the fox just slinked away into the wood. I continued further to a gorse covered gulley where I thought I might find a fox , but no instead I spied 2 bucks rubbing antlers with each other. I crawled into a shootable position and watched them for a while , they kept rubbi

  12. Me and my mate had a look out to look for a buck , on arrival at the ground we saw a mature buck chasing a juvenile off his territory . The mature buck was stomping back to the wood from his victory , I gave him a shout and my mate bagged him with a neck shot at 150 yards. The youngster was still watching in the next field so I took my mates rifle and fired, the buck took a couple of steps forward and just stood , my mate called me hopeless . " Youve missed " he said " give me the rifle " anyway after about 30 seconds the buck fell over dead. On gralloching the beast , which I shot at 230
  13. I shoot bucks when they present themselves as you might never see them again.A lot is down to population levels and type of ground you stalk. If you only stalk forestry or woodland you have to take the chances when they arrive. If you have field living roe you can pin the deer down to a small area at times. Down South where there are plenty roe you can pick and choose your beasts but up North I think you have to take your chances. No trophies here either so no point in leaving beasts.
  14. Nice one mate , Cant wait til I get down again and we'll have that buck as well .

  20. Me and David went to Scotland Friday night for a spot of foxing. I was lamping with David shooting again.1st fox I spotted was at the top of the next field , I gave it a call and it came in really well , not flying in just steady. David was lying waiting ,the fox just kept coming and coming . As it approached the fence I shouted to stop it but it took no notice , went under the fence , through the ditch , under the next fence and kept coming .I shouted again and it took no notice , I thought it was going to sit on my lap eventually I managed to stop it at about 50 yards which is when David s
  21. Good shooting Remmy , just ignore people who dont believe its that they are ignorant and havent seen long range shooting before. My mate shoots rabbits at 500 yards regularly dialling in , I was amazed to watch such accurate shooting .Keep pushing the boundarys Dave, his furthest is 644 yards on a hare with a 1 shot kill..
