  1. COLD ............that is an understatement , BLOODY FREEZING more like it , I dont think it got over -2C all day.We still had a great day in beautiful surroundings , with both terrier and lurcher catching rabbits as well as the ferrets bolting a few. Woodga the human JCB had a lot of digging to do :moil: Heres a few more pics I took !
  2. Had plenty black rabbits over the years , along with ginger , silver and white patches on them . Once took 4 rabbits from the same sett with white collars and blue eyes
  3. They are great prices , wish I could get that . What do you mean fox £15 -25 ??
  4. My honest advice to you is buy two rifles. Either a .22lr or .17HMR for the rabbits. Then move up to either a .223, .22-250 or even a .243 if you can get away with it for the foxes. My advice as well !!!
  5. The only advice I can give is buy the best you can afford. A scope is more important than the rifle.I have a .243 and have shot all 6 of our deer species with it , so thats not a problem.Only you can make the decision. Good luck !!
  6. Good stuff Dave , thats a real nice specimen , they are truly beautiful at this time of year. Do you have a take-away in that gully of yours ?
  7. Had a stalk this morning as there was a break in the weather . On arrival at my ground it was a bit frosty but a nice morning.I spooked 2 big does out out of a game crop to start with then I spied 3 white backsides feedig on a pheasant feeder . As I stalked into them , all of a sudden they ran into the open field looking in the opposite direction . I knew they hadnt seen me so I waited and a big buck minus his antlers appeared , then all 4 of them took off I continued stalking round to a bit of set a side and spotted another roe feeding from a pheasnt feeder , they must love the wheat.
  8. Just wondering what numbers you have had this year and what part of the country. I had number 60 last night !!
  9. Id be very happy with that buck mate
  10. Hi v-max , my mate has got the Geovids but never take them lamping as if you can see a fox in the beam he can shoot it !! 58 foxes so far this year
  11. Went out the other night to a smallholding hopeful to find a fox that the farmer had seen at lunchtime in front of his house. My mate who is an exceptional shot took his rifle and I was the lamp man. I prefer lamping just as much as shooting. Anyway on entering a field opposite some gorse I called for a good 5 mins before a fox appeared in the top corner of the field , the fox wouldnt come in so my mate decided to take it from where we were. Anyway he asked "HOW FAR " I said at least 250 yards "no problem " anyway he shot a vixen and I paced it out at 272 paces. We then head

  16. I arrived yesterday morning at 1st light at my ground , by Christ it was freezing . A good ground frost covered the fields .I waited just a little bit for the sun to start to rise and hopefully warm up the air . I glassed the valley in front of me , but couldnt see anything , no surprise there as it was freezing. I continued to stalk along the river towards the bottom of a shelter belt , very noisily as the leaves underfoot were frozen. I didnt have much hope of getting onto a deer when suddenly from a corner in front of me burst 2 roe . Quickly I mounted my rifle on my sticks as
  17. Hi mate , but that fox doesnt look big or heavy. Any idea of its weight ?Heaviest weve had was 21 1/2 lbs , that was big!!
  18. Red filter definitely the job.............This lot was taken using it!!!
  19. [i agree with what you say but surely if you aint got the rabbits you would put the miles in and travel?? I know a lad that lived in darby used to drive to scotland to ferret.. I travel 50 mile round trips to my permission for a rew runs on rabbits and would go futher for big bags... Spot on mate , if you want sport you have to travel.I travel thousands of miles a year for my sport.People moan that they dont have the quarry but arent prepared to go out of there way and look for it.
  20. Had a walk about a local farm this morning as the weather was nice and I have a day off work.Started off with a couple of squigs followed by a right and left woody. Then I had 2 right and lefts at squigs followed by a carrion crow which dared to fly over my head I lifted a covey of grey partridge and duly dropped the last one out of the covey !! Finished the day with 10 grey invaders !!!
