  1. Me and Woodga had a look out on one of my patches last night to see what charlies were knocking about. I lamped and called down by a wood at the bottom of the ground but nothing showed , we then headed up the bank and continued to lamp some rough fields. I spied a couple of hares sitting in a grass field so we edged closer to the fence in order to take a shot , when I switched the lamp back on the hares had ran up the field but standing in there place was a fox , I rested on a barbed wire fence , shouted to stop the fox , crosshairs on chest , pulled the trigger only to see charlie running off
  2. Know what you mean mate , I missed a sitter last night at about 50 yds

  6. London Manchester & Brum from what i can see Thanks . Fancy not coming up North
  7. I use Winchester subs , wouldnt use anything else .Never had a problem with them. Why are you zeroing at yds why not try 50yds . I set mine at 50 yards and that takes care of most shots at rabbits.
  8. I saw them about 23 years ago at the City Hall , Newcastle , they were great. Are they coming to Newcastle again ??
  9. It depends how hard you squeeze it , you can have it very quiet or louder . Remember a foxs hearing is far more superior to ours , a little squeak is sometimes enough to bring it within range
  10. I went out with Woodga last night for a run with the dogs. Ground was still soaking but plenty rabbits out and about.I was running Flyte and Woodga was running Typp. The ground we were running was not exactly easy , a lot of rushy ground where the order of the day was to take squatters , anyway that was no problem for Typp who excelled last night at this taking nearly ever squatter no problem Typp read the beam perfectly , straight down the beam taking rabbit upon rabbit before it knew what hit it.......... Funniest thing of the night was Woodga warning me about a ditch in fron
  11. You can get a mouse squeaker , you just squeeze it with your fingers and it makes a squeak like a mouse ! I used to have one but lost it out of my pocket , it is OK on still evenings to pull charlie in those last few paces !!
  12. Was that the same stubbles we did at the weekend ???
  13. I think you cant beat good old fashioned calling using your hand , Ive done quite a bit of calling this season with my hand and had good results. The best thing about it is you can never forget it unlike other calls as its always with you
  14. Last night saw me and David out foxing again with Peg @ Gun It wasnt long before we spied the 1st charlie out in the middle of a stubble. Peg pulled the motor round and David was over the bonnet...." I cant make it out " said David " Just get it shot " was Pegs reply. David launched a 58gr v-max and you could here a positive hit .....................we drove over and a nice dog fox was laid there , David said it was curled up in some straw when he shot it The happy couple............ We then lamped quite a bit more ground but tonight was very quiet , very still and still

  16. Its 3 mate , we had 2 off there last time..............
  17. Youre right mate , an old wives tale . I ve shot plenty under a full moon. One things for sure you wont shoot any sitting in the house . Which part of the Borders are you from ??
  18. Me and David were out again last night under the full moon , christ it was so light I could read my car reg number at distance. Anyway I lamped a fox straight away which was tucked into a hedge but it wouldnt present itself for a shot so we carried on and I spotted another charlie way out across a freshly ploughed field. David had to take the shot from the edge of the field as there was no way we were getting any closer , there was a bit of a cross wind blowing so David aimed just in front of the fox and managed to knock it over hitting it around the diaphragm area ...........shot approx 2
  19. Cracking shot mate , well done Nice feeling when you hit them at range.............
  20. I never get bored as every night is different , also cull a lot of foxes throughout the day as well, not just lamping !
  21. I managed to drag my mate out last nite onto his ground which hasnt been lamped yet this year as he cant be bothered to go out We set up early in a hedge watching a stubble field which had a small copse running along one edge , after only about 5 mins a fox popped through the hedge only 10 yards from us , sat down and stared at us for about 30 seconds before it slinked back through the hedge We then lamped a couple of stubbles , I spied those tell tale eyes , my mate got ready on a bale and I called it in lovely to around yards , a quick HOY to stop her and job done !!
