  1. John That's typical of my experience of Snareman too. Always gives, never asks.
  2. H&J Bird lands on the top and perches. Has a look round, drops through the hole with it's wings folded and flutters down. On the way back it's trying to fly - wings outstretched - doesn't fit.
  3. A shiver went down my spine as I read that ferret love. Brrrrrrrrrrr
  4. Patients MT, patients ........
  5. BF - it was across the chest and shoulder, one front paw either side of the jaws. You can just make it out in the top pic.
  6. Now my dad was supposed to set this, but it turned out he couldn't get the fenn trap closed enough to get the catch on. So in the end I had to go round and do it - so it was set for the first time, factory fresh, yesterday afternoon at about 2pm. I built a bit of an extra tunnel of bricks to keep the cats out. Got a call at 8 this morning ....
  7. Thats enough now - the pair of you.
  8. looks like a great day Molly.
  9. Terribly sad that MT - the way some people will just lie to your face like that
  10. I think it depends a bit whether you have 'exclusive' permission or not. I have some areas where, as you say, I make sure I fulfil my obligation to deliver the service expected. On other spots it's much more casual but I have to accept that others are allowed on as well as me.
  11. You might want to look here at the Wildlife and Countryside Act but the BASC air rifle code of practice gives the following advice We recommend that you refrain from using them on live quarry other than the following: crows, rooks, jackdaws, magpies, jays, woodpigeon, collared doves, feral pigeons, brown rats, grey squirrels and rabbits.
  12. I also make 'boxes' which are almost exactly the same - only with a floor and removable lid.
  13. Just in case there is any doubt at all, shooting or trapping wild birds and animals is illegal, except where permitted under the game laws or general / special licence. Birds of prey are a particularly sensitive area. I am sure that hok boi is talking about any that have been taken legally, found dead or bred birds that have died in captivity. John B p.s. I did realise that was a joke Eamon.Mc
  14. You want to be carefull listening to your mate. Live bait for things like foxes is illegal - you're fine with nuts. My rule of thumb is blind tunnels baited, straight through unbaited. But squirrels will run through an open tunnel without bait.
  15. I've had squirrel in the same afternoon as I've set them. Are you baiting ? what with ?
  16. What exactly are you trying to catch ? How are you siteing it ? Any evidence of traffic or are you just dumping it anywhere ?
  17. Lofting poles mate. You can get them for the THL sponsor http://www.decoying.co.uk/?page=show-item&item=84 and lots of other places.
  18. There's an article on this site JnM http://thehuntinglife.com/html/sections/ar...arsen-trap.html
  19. It doesn't even have to mean an physical 'attack'. An uncontrolled dog which chases sheep, or any other livestock for that matter, can cause them to miscarry young, injure themselves in panic and even die through the stress. Any dog which has shown a tendency to do this should be kept on a lead or kept away.
  20. Sourced from http://www.sussex.police.uk/online_forms/firearms_law_juveniles.asp Under 15-years-old It is an offence to make a gift of a shot gun or ammunition to children under 15-years-old (14-years-old for airguns). Children under 15-years (14-years for standard airguns) may not have an assembled gun with them except: With a valid shot gun certificate, they may use a shot gun under the direction and supervision of someone 21 or over; When they are using an airgun under the direct supervision of someone aged 21 or over; When the gun is in a securely fastened gun cover
  21. See you back on here soon then - just in the middle of the night !
  22. The 'notes' had me confused for a bit - I think it's just to show where the footfalls are. I knew I was asking for trouble putting this up
  23. Assuming you have wire ? A straight cage dropping door hinged at the top and folds up inside. Held open by a straight wire attached to a treadle. Or you could make one from thinner wire and a frame as described here http://thehuntinglife.com/html/sections/ar...abbit-trap.html or you could try one of these if you're more of a wood worker http://mdc.mo.gov/documents/nathis/woodwork/ww10.pdf or http://www.agfc.com/pdfs/free/liverabbittrap_bro.pdf That enough ?
  24. Eggs mate - ideally in a handful of straw to look like a fake nest. I think there are even some eggs in the bottom of the picture and you can see the ramins of the straw in this one
