  1. well done for checking it out Ricky
  2. Are you sure mate ? 'cos even if he wrote it when he was five and signed it when he was that still make your book over 100 years old. Quite a bargin for £20
  3. i got told it was a series I thinki it was planned as a series - all the BBCTHREE blurb talk about a 'series' but maybe they didn't think there was enough to string out
  4. That's more or less the trap I have although, as I have not yet used it, I have not applied for any license.
  5. Just found this link in Another Place - interactive map of where they have been spotted http://www.searchnbn.net/interactive/map.j...HMSYS0000377494
  6. What area do you live in ? I'll go and see if you're on the BBC site.
  7. If you know where the entrance is and you can get to it, chase him out and then position the trap so that it covers the entrance. Cover the trap over leaving the end clear like a 'tunnel' so with a bit of luck it just appear like part of the way in. Either way you're either going to catch him or keep him out. If you don't know where the entrance is, put the trap close to where you know he's active but use a more attractive and aromatic bait - peanut butter works for me That's what I do and it's not caused a problem. Had recatches with a couple of weeks
  8. Apparently the man has his own web site http://www.wildmanwildfood.co.uk/
  9. looks like a die / mould of some sort ? Pour the liquid in through the channels and get the 'balls' out by unscrewing the two halves ?
  10. Not just crossed mate - keep 'em out of the way. those fenns can smart a bit.
  11. You're right mate - those days are long gone.
  12. 'cos they got lots of exercise running round after there dinner in the first place Ditch, and usually died of something else first
  13. I don't think that they need to be too long BB - about 60cm long should do you. The main reason to use them is to keep out the other things that you don't want to catch so don't forget to use a couple of sticks at each end to restrict the entrance. I had a bit of trouble with that and so tend to use trap boxes like this. These are only 18 inches long and I've found them to be 'safer'.
  14. 2 copies sold, but I have a couple more left.
  15. If any of you budding trap makers are interested, I have a spare copy of this book going for £12 all in - brand new copy. It's not one of your classic reference works, like Carnegie, but it's ideal if you're just itching to make stuff. Printed in a clear large format - each page 11 inches x 8 inches. 60 pages. Card covers. The subjects covered include: Lever action traps, foot hold traps, box traps of various designs, barrel traps, cage traps, fishing pole snares, basic snares, box snares and many others. Every page is full of large, clear illustrations (see e
  16. You're right BB - I think that they changed the name from the original press release. The note from the Beeb seems to suggest it is going to be a series: Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'Roadkill Chef'. I can inform you that the series will begin on the 16 January on BBC THREE at 9.00pm. You can read more about this series and other forthcoming BBC programmes by following the link below: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressrele...ctual_ent.shtml I hope this information has been of some help, and thank you again for taking time to contact the BBC.
  17. Ah, that will be the Harceler al la mouche œufs then
  18. Have you looked through the others on there ? Some of them are bizarre, especially the rejected ones. But even the live ones are a laugh - for example one to change the national anthem to 'Gold' by Spandau Ballet Honest http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/goldanthem/ or this one http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Sextoysandcigars/ to Cut taxes on lingerie, Sex toys, Chocolate and Cigars
  19. I've had an email from the nice people at BBC Three and I can inform you that the series will begin on the 16 January on BBC THREE at 9.00pm.
  20. Wow - I like that. Very nice mate. Good shape to it
  21. I don't think DitchShitter was suggesting that lamperman - just trying to get it to qualify under the rules. I for one didn't think for a minute that Duckwing was making it up.
  22. This is what I do for cage traps, but rather than write it all myself .......... Taken from The Trap man website: Place each rabbit trap in line with the hedgerow or ditch cop so that the bait lines run towards the next Rabbit Trap. Prepare the bait with fresh carrots cut lengthwise in to four, lay the bait just inside the live catch rabbit trap, place another piece right at the back of the live catch rabbit cage trap, place a line of bait 1mt apart between the live catch rabbit traps http://www.trapman.co.uk/ works for me
  23. How about thre catagories then ? - longest body - longest nose to tail - heaviest. (not sure how the evidence works on this one) Any rat can be entered into multiple catagories.
  24. Apparently this is scheduled for BBC Three quite soon. Might make interesting viewing Road Kill Café Pioneering forager and road-kill chef Fergus Drennan wants to change Britain's eating habits and wake people up to the bland rubbish he believes they shovel into their mouths. Fergus goes to the sleepy Kent town of Sandwich to persuade locals to go foraging for the first time and discover the delights of road kill. At the end of a three-week stay, he plans to hold a feast of wild food and wild meat, sourcing his ingredients from the wild, of course, from beaches and forest under
