  1. Zebedee Well done for bring the renewed licence to everyones attention Can I just add that the link is to one of the general licences, you can see the whole list here: http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/conservat...genlicences.htm The one Zebedee links to covers control for the purpose 'to prevent serious damage or disease' - most frequently pigeons and crows. The other key one is for the purpose 'to conserve wild birds' which is often the reason for control of magpies, jays and other corvids. The third one of any relevance relates to control for public safety They cover
  2. This one on ebay looks the same http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...B:WNARL:GB:1123 Interestingly it was originally listed at about a fiver, was taken off before it finished and now back for £20
  3. This should give you a basic idea - I think it depends on the design but there should be a series of 'baffles' spaced apart with a clear path for the 'bullet' up the middle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor
  4. Can you post any pics of these walls ? I'm struggling to visualise how you are going to get 'inside' them. Are there blocks you can take out and replace with a 'snare block' ? If that's what you're planning then the snares would be 'invisible' to the marauding kids. But it would be just as possible to create 'trap' blocks ? A hollow 9" block sounds like a good bodygrip cubby or fenn tunnel to me. John
  5. You really are hopeless. Three for sale in the UK for £2.99 or less http://www.gizmoandwidget.com/index.php?ma...;products_id=66 http://shop.justparents.co.uk/product/Magn...Gyro-Wheel.html http://www.ernestthebeartoys.co.uk/desc.asp?id=MGW

  9. Blimey - that one in the body grip is a size. Well caught though, good solid hit.
  10. put it back, put it back - I want to see it
  11. I made this tripple for donnyc but I don't know how well it stood up to heavy use - I hope it was OK. It's a fairly straight forward design all cut from two 4ft by 4ft sheets of 12mm plywood. The finished box is 42" wide, 19" deep and 15" high to fit on top of the one he already had. If it was to be used on it's own it could do with a couple of rails on the bottom to let the air get round it. You'll see some much fancier ones on here though.
  12. OK - I have started trying to answer some of these now; distilling some of the past posts and doing a bit of sense checking with other forum members. Comments and other suggestions welcome

  14. According to R.M. Lockley's "The Private Life of the Rabbit": 'Observations on myxomatous rabbits suggest that the swelling of the eyelids and and ears which causes blindness and deafness also reduces sensitivity to pain, that it feels so little that its appetite remains unimpaired; and it is a fact that myxomatous rabbits will eat voraciously and even attempt to mate up to a few hours before death. Blindness however usually prevents their finding the path to the burrow ......' So running away from your terrier is quite possible within the early stages, and I think the blindness is on
  15. You could try something like these, taken from Camp Life in the Woods . But as simple tunnels over the runs. THE BOX SNARE. This is a most unique device, and will well repay anyone who may desire to test its merits. It may be set for rabbits, coon, or feathered game, of course varying the size of the box accordingly. For ordinary purposes, it should be seven or eight inches square, leaving one end open. Place it in the position shown in the illustration and proceed to bore an auger hole in the top board, one and a half inches from the back edge. This is for the reception of the b
  16. Hi Darren yes they can be really effective and I am pleased to see you're seeking the right support and guidance on using them. You say you've been reading up which is a good start - I am assuming that's the articles on here and not just the threads in the forum ? There are one or two good videos about including the one Woodga made. The first half details how to make snares but the second gives you clear practical instruction on setting snares of different types. Failing that there are a few on here that used to run courses, but I'm not sure if that is still the case. But
  17. Very interesting post FF - and well planned too with all the pics at the right stages. I've never done anything like that but I have to admit it has got me thinking. Thanks for taking the time
  18. Aye - beating for me tomorrow. Forecast is dry and quite cool, but windy after a very wet ay here today. Should be a good day for the guns - plenty of challenge, but we will have good old Warwickshire clay weighing down our boots from the off
  19. Yep, just the same but I'd be inclined to cut down on the sugar a bit as they are much sweeter fruit. I'd also suggest you divide your fruit in two and make some Bramble Vodka too. And if you have enough why not some blackberry wine ?
  20. You should really leave it atleast a year Phil - your's might be a bit young yet. "Make it one season to drink the next" And if you can try and only drink one bottle a year for the first few years so you end up with some 2, 3 years or older
  21. Another masterclass Woodga well done Not sure about that hat though - look a bit too much like a keeper now
  22. Just a thought - could someone hve removed the trap after she was caught ? maybe taken both to your local RSPCA / rescue centre / vet ?
