  1. Magwitch has posted a couple of pics of my bue lurcher Smokey, they can be found in the ferreting section ,I beleive, whether he qualifies as being "Nice " I don't know but he suits me.Inan.
  2. Skycat on here has one of these ,and is very pleased with its intelligence and drive.
  3. The gentleman in question might have put a few pounds on over the years ,courtesy of those take away curries and Lager ,but I dont think its fair to call him a giant
  4. I settle for a dog with either
  5. I would put my Smokey up but you said GOOD Collie crosses.
  6. Some of the threads pertaining to coursing suggest there are exceptions to this rule.!
  7. Ordinary Optrex to flush an eye, Golden eye Ointment ,or Brolene to soothe an abrasion,Ive used all three with good results.
  8. Have you been giving him a lot of bones? These will bind him up, a teaspoon full of oil will help.Milk Of Magnesia will settle a stomach. But make sure the dog hasnt got a blockage . I once had a pup with a piece of coal stuck up his rectum,,couldnt pass it,he had to be held and" digitally remastered".not a pleasant job, for either of us!
  9. Gain is not a name I know ,but 20% protein for a dog not doing regular work is adequate.Mine get 28% greyhound meal plus raw rabbit ,during the working season but I drop the protein level down once the season ends, otherwise you get a dog "all dressed up with nowhere to go".I. E full of bounce with no way to work it off.
  10. You had a result there ,they charge that for a consultation down here.Did you see the programme about Vets fees last night? Disgraceful!
  11. I agree, if it gets caught it can tear right up into the leg tissue and be very painful.
  12. I find having permission helps.
  13. I had it done on a dog ,too many years ago to remember the price,it was a full anaesthetic.Something to think about, if you work a lot of rough ground ,you might want to think about having the other one off at the same time Sarah.I take the damn things off soon after their born now .I dont see the use of them but others think they aid balance etc.I cant see it.
  14. Good to see young blood coming into the game .Well done!Don't forget to keep Keeper sweet!
  15. Powerful looking fella ,I'm sure he will catch on ,one of mine has just started going down the beam.ATB
  16. He robbed my Ted of two rabbits this weekend but we are in training for a rematch............................. Thanks for putting them up Pat.
  17. I particularly like that black one, very solid.
  18. Roll on the summer eh ,then the season can really start
  19. FFS, here we go again. Does it matter if someone hunts or not? I'd have thought that it was just as important to have understanding and acceptance of our way of life. What about the thousands of folk that turn out to follow their local hunts each week? They don't do any hunting as such either. It is a bloody hunting forum so there no point joining if you dont hunt is there ! Kay has shown by her posts that she is in sympathy with the hunting way of life, and allways posts positive threads,I think she is an asset to the forum's , long may she continue to post !
  20. Smokey was in the CW's a few weeks ago ,couple of pics of him in there.
  21. Lot of questions there Skycat but here goes. The dogs I have were all raised with the birds except one. Generally it is easier to get the dogs running before the bird starts hunting with them. As to things going wrong I have never had a bird hurt by the dogs although the birds will put the boot in on the dogs if they feel the dogs are getting in the way. The birds hit the hare all the time as the dogs are trying for a strike, usually the falcon hits the hare and rolls it and the dogs grab it then the falcon comes down. My gyr/prairie likes to lift the hares 2ft into the air and drop them in
  22. All our yesterdays eh? We had the golden years Skycat, hope you and A are both well and all the canine furries are up to scratch .
