Am I getting this right ,you had 2 good dogs ,decided to pack in hunting ,got rid of them ,bought in 3 more in a couple of months ,they werent what you wanted ,now you want another allready going?Is that about it?What happens to the 3 you have now ? :icon_redface: come on now young lads what harm were they doing . there not out robbing old granys . your right there they doing no harm at all just hunting rabbits like the rest of us do only they now not got a ferret or nets soome one has stolen them Don't think you can steal what's been abandoned. As a kid I ferreted ground that I didn't have permission on eg railway embankments etc but I wouldn't have left my ferrets behind for anyone.

With respect Joe I don't think how he kills hares is the point ,the man's word was questioned on the basis that the hare's appear to be unmarked.Many lads do both day and Night running ,I do myself,I didnt lamp hares, Pre ban ,but that is a personal choice.I don't see any reason for a divide between day or night hunters.Just in the absence of proof to the contrary I take a man's word,Snoops wasn't biiging his dog up as far as I can see ,just putting a post up about his great day out.

The fact that the hares looked unmarked ,is very tenous evidence to doubt a man's word,and several posters have vouched for his veracity. Why every time a lad puts up pics of his day out ,some one wants to stick the knife in is sad.I dont know either of the protagonists in this debate so am neutral ,but why must it degenerate into a saluki V collie cross argument? MB wins ONE match on the fens and now its "you don't need saluki blood on the fens".Your question asking why all the top match dogs have saluki blood is the most emphatic rebuttal,of the fans of collie and sundry other crosses

Both dogs could do with lamping ,I travel nearly 135 miles, round trip to run mine at night. It seems everyone and his granny has a long dog around where I live. My permission has vitually jack shit on , as its in walking distance of a traveller site and a big council estate with at least 20 lurchers on it, the bunnies are going down as you get out of the car. A mate of mine has some nice permission ,but its a long haul,be nice to get some within 45min of where I live in Kent.Magwitch and I have some decent ferreting ,but lamping ground is hard to come by near where we live.

Glad you got a positive result ,and the outcome was the best antidote the travellers on here could want for the negative posts they get,much of it earned I'm forced to say ,but nice to hear a genuine man putting things right in what must have been painful circumstances for him.

Any one wondering why most of the catches by the dogs feature little TED ,the reason is quite simple ,he did most of the catching,Rainer my Saluki cross was no match for the take off of Turbo Ted,the little Black Dog excells at this type of rabbiting,and marks unerringly true,saving a lot of spade work.My bloke got a couple of bunnies ,but the greedy little Black Pig ,took the majority on the day.Laid back Rainer was beaten to the Bunny allmost every time ,but we all had a great time,a little reward for all the bread and butter pest control we have done on this land recently.

I agree the type of ground is paramount.Magwitch and I did a copse recently ,using the quickset nets ,as we couldn't get a stop net across the bury one of us stood at the unnetted end ,put all the ferrets in that area,with a view to pushing the rabbits away to the netted bit, it worked quite well.
