  1. aint that the truth .smack on comment Yeah you're right P, it just pisses me off people sniping without knowing jack shit about the animals concerned.I suppose I shouldn't bite really.
  2. if your "mates" dogs were any good then maybe you wouldn't need to advertise,,,,, To respond to your glib remark. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the litter Skycat referred to, the dam is of a very high class, and the sire I own. He was retired when he dislocated a front leg in a dyke. To illustrate my point , even I can't find room for a pup ,as I have four dogs now and no kennel space . I 'm not prepared to put a healthy if old dog down to make room for another. Plus I've a year old pup to concentrate on. They were bred for the owner of the bitch's use, a
  3. Just one question, why did you bother putting that up?

  7. A post that is refreshing for it's honesty. Horses for courses.
  8. I don't think you've seen much coursing ,have you?
  9. Two fast dogs that seemed to lose a lot of ground on the turns.I would have preferred it if the spectators had stood still when the hare was near them.
  10. There were 47, and Pat shot them in an orchard , it's a quicker alternative to ferreting which is obviously a pain in the arse at this time of year .Its a pity the terrain is not suitable for dogs, it would maybe not be as productive, but certainly more exciting. The bunnies feed our animals and more importantly keep the landowner happy so ,safeguarding our winter exploits.
  11. I don't know you but, from your posts ,I know you look after your animals. You may find this breakdown of dry dog foods informative. You will note that Eukanuba gets rather a mixed review.I give dry food more as a biscuit mixer , because my 4 dogs are on whole rabbits and chicken carcasses.plus giblets, veg, eggs rice ,porridge ,and pasta. I increase the red meat as the season starts, giving them beef and lamb mince, plus tinned and fresh fish . Apart from Orijen which is hugely exensive, I don't really think too much of any dry meal . As I say Its purely a mixer for me
  12. Magwitch's 3/4whippet 1/4 beddie can be seen in the Sighthounds At Work section, he has a great nose and terrific prey drive.
  13. I think its refreshing that you took the trouble to give him a public pat on the back,..says something about you as well as him
  14. I've had a fair few ginger ones over the years, and a couple of blacks, In one particular area I hunt , the dogs have picked up the odd blue one.
  15. Hi J, sorry to hear of your bad luck ,my black & tan Rainer cost me over £2000 when he dislocated his leg in Lincs, I've a new pup to run this year ,it would be nice to see you, and chew the fat. I will be at the Festival Of Hunting on the Peterborough Showground and there for the East Of England Show, maybe we will meet up at one of them?Good Hunting .T
  16. No Chalk, he follows them in, not the best dog in the world, but he is a trier as you know.
  17. different type of dog you want a strong runner on lamp but in day you want a fast racy runer I think the type of dog you require depends on the ground you run it on .Daytime fast ,racy dogs are fine for small land, but can be exposed on big land if they do not pick up quickly, because top end speed, and stamina do not often go together,in my experience. Stamina comes into play if you are out lamping for several hours,or all night , pushing the limits of the dogs, but lots of lampers just go out for a few runs so big time endurance is not really essential for their requiremen
  18. I use my dogs for all hunting. I know several men that have excellent daytime dogs that are also top drawer on the lamp. Thre is a school of thought that lamping a dog encourages it to pull up at hedges, I think it depends on the dog ,and how it is brought along. Once a dog learns it can catch by entering a hedge/ bush, it usually does so day or night , in my experience. .
  19. I hope this news has a positive ending Tommy.
  20. Hectic stuff.Too many mutts involved. I can't understand why they run up, once its caught ,only to stand around flapping their arms about .You would think at least one of them would carry a decent knife to dispatch the pig.I dont like to see a load of dogs biting lumps out of an animal while the crowd stand and jabber away ,the animal should be dispatched asap.imo.
  21. Tonys the Doctor I am only a nurse.......................................... But a pretty one. The gloves are for the tredious bit afterwards ,the gutting.
