  1. I disagree in that the emphasis is now firmly on numbers caught rather than the quality of the runs. I ran on permission over 25 years ago , and some of the best permission in the country it was too. Ah well, I suppose I have my memories.
  2. totally agree with you mate, no one needs to take 30/40 a night Ah now that depends on whether your hunting for the pot or doing pest control for the land owner. Also I can see rabbits being sold pound each to cover fuel costs. very valid point there, a skinned and gutted rabbit in the local market by me is a fiver and they come from China! i wouldn't mind having a contact to buy a few off me to cover fuel expenses Magwitch and I used to shoot up to 50 rabbits a night it fed the dogs but it isn't what I would call either exciting or sport. It was in orchards where you couldnt
  3. Coursing today is about numbers, not the quality of the runs, otherwise idiots would not be putting kickups on You Tube and expecting a pat on the head. A friend of mine has two clips of his dog running on this forum at the moment, both are what I would call good runs. Fair slips and good courses where the dog has to stick with its game. You're right about lads ditching game in hedges and the reason for it , trouble is it becomes counter productive when its found especially if it has horns. Then it becomes a news story for the local paper. If I ran today I would want to eat what my dog
  4. their aren't many rabbits on the farm, and me and the farmer both eat a lot of rabbit in the winter, the point is not to get rid of them, but to control them so they are still there next year. i got no problem with people poaching, but what's the point in killing a pregnant Rabbit? Baw is just a professional shit stirrer, his only friend is that legend in his own kitchen Mark Brick.I was brought up to ask would you like someone doing that to you ? If the answer is no then don't do it to others. Too many wanabees and legends in their own minds on here nowadays . Its sad the way the gam

  11. No , go out all year round ,on everyone elses ground, then around September , come on here whining that there aren't many rabbits about. If you had permission which i doubt, would you be happy for everyone and their Granny to poach it? I know who has what ground local to me and I respect it but, thats just me not and a load of a*******s
  12. Never read a post of yours that was worth two bob and this is no exception .
  13. There will be plenty of posters who actually agree with this.Especially the ones too lazy to go and get here own permission.
  14. If the ferret is an adult,..and knows dogs,..I let them play,..have mock fights and generally wrestle around together... My aim is to create a working partnership and whilst it is obviously a 100% no no for a rabbiting lurcher and terrier, to grip a ferret,.by the same token,..I would NEVER expect a made ferret, to ever bite the dog... There is no reason for it to do so.. Just my take on it,...not that I actually keep any ferrets myself... A man who knows what he is talking about! Been there, seen it, done it!
  15. I blitz parsnip,,cabbage, carrots, etc in an electric shredder then just add raw to their meat. It's so finely broken down, it is easily digested.
  16. Short grassed fields are never the best to start a youngster ,the bunnies go like shit of a shovel.Pup did well under the circumstances. I wouldnt push a 7 months old pup too hard.
  17. Sensor lights, good locks, cctv, are obvious deterents. Current photos of your dogs in case the worst happens, and you can then put them up on forums. Dont go on sites such as this, and Face book, bigging ,your dogs up , telling people where you live ,and unbelievably in one case, when you will be out.
  18. Not enough meat in it, mainly floor sweepings. I'm currently using a couple of bags I got cheap as a mixer with their mince etc.
  19. A friend of mine had a dog called Blue who lost an eye, he continued working and caught him a lot of gear, sadly he was hit by a car when behind his game , but he had a full productive life.ATB
  20. A couple of small cubes of chicken fat from a tupperware box if I've a long drive home,[which I usually have] .I've started giving Django my youngest dog a couple of pieces of jerky for the ride home, but only if he's alone!
  21. Lovely pup. I haven't seen Romeo , but have heard good things about him. If your pup ends up half as good as Belle you will be on a winner!
  22. I thought so too.I put a review up in the appropriate section.
  23. Those aren't the ones with the brass barrel, they have a trigger on the side don't they? Yes they do mate but one has a hole drilled to accommodate the string and barrel ......... Oh ok. K.
