rifle as it is (Rifle, scope and mod) weighs in at 12.8lb, which is a shade under 6kg, am i being a bit of a wimp here?? Its got a 26" barrel on it and with the t8 makes it about 28". i mainly use this rifle as a long range rabbit gun (100-250 yards) with the odd fox and a bit of target although the target isnt vital i have a 6.5x55 mauser for that purpose. unless i get it re-barreled??

A bout 4 months ago i brought a used remington 700sps (heavy barrel and crapy stock) ive since changed the trigger and stock and now it shoots like a dream on the range but theres a catch, its soooooooo heavy especialy with a t8 on the end. So i have a choice, i can either: sell my current .223 and get a sporter for lightness in the field, change the empty 22lr on my ticket for a .223 and have one for target and one for field, or stick with my current one and man up a bit. or i can go for a totaly differnt caliber (although id rather not as i have the dies, cases and heads for .223 alr

sorry to piggyback off this topic, and fair play to you for puting somthing out of its misery. I had somthing occur the other week with made me think what the rights and wrongs of humane dispatch were. I had a freind with a horse that had broken its leg, blood everywhere and it was in alot of distress, the original vet was over 2hrs away but luckily there was one about 10mins away. Had that nearer vet not been avaliable would i have been in the wrong legaly to end its life in the form of a round to the head even after the owners consent to do so?? bearing in mind i dont have equine on

you can have a section 5 firearm providing it has something unique about it, i.e it was 1 of 10 ever made, or was owned by william of the great north sea (you get my point) but it then becomes a 7.3 firearm and must be stored in a heritige gun club and only accessable on heratige nights, you also cant pick it up from a shop yourself, someone whos a section 5 RFD must do this. not sure on the aplication to get a 7.3 pistol so someone else might have to speek about that. or you can get a muzzle loading pistol (black powder) on a normal FAC ticket, or a Long barreled recolver on a normal FAC

our club uses 2 full members to sign its new members forms, usualy after a good chat with the new person/people. Then they go through the minimum of 3 month probabation for which they are always supivised, and then once deamed safe and undergon our in-club training course, they are moved up to full members.

I currently own a 2.8TD LWB pajero, and although i do enjoy driving it there are 2 things i hate about it. 1. 20mpg, 23 on a good run (ive changed filters cleaned injectors ect to no avail.) 2. its an automatic therefore rearly anoying in traffic when you cant change it up a gear and just a bit too big for me (7 seats) now i was looking at a few differnt cars but i want it to do : 30/35+ mpg normal driving, cruise control would be nice but not vital and a few other luxuries, needs to actualy be able to offroad and tow (farm tracks and dips not major off-roading) diesel be under £1

lol most people have totaly avoided his question, he never said should i drive or walk, he asked what the best 4x4 was for doing it in so lay off with calling him lazy maybe?? its each to their own n all that jazz. anyways i go round in a lwb shogun atm, its never got stuck yet but im looking to change it in for something a little less juice thirsty and was looking at maybe the new swb jeep cherokee's?? trouble i find is getting the ground clearance, ive got a 2in lift on the shogun and that clears everything but most modern 4x4's would struggle with a little ditch. of course this all

damn i de-primed and cleaned them the other day. I still have 30 or so left, i'll inspect them closely after i go to bisley again next month.

I shall measure the OAL that they are currently at when i get home later today and report back. I have no idea how many times the brass had been used but they were full sized each time (they were the dies that came with it) and i was given a full box of 100 new lapua brass when i brought the rifle. The fitting of the primers i cant comment on yet, i havent got round to reloading them myself, i was supplied with 50 123gr's and about 30 139gr's although suprisingly the load data that was written inside the cases for both loads state he used 44gr of N160. Ive got a feeling im going to

hmmmm see now i thought it would be more hight pressue, i forgot to add in my first post i had 3-4 flattened primers out of 50 rounds. Im going to see if my local shop will measure my chamber for the correct OAL. Other than the dirty cases its a superbly accurate round and im rearly pleased with it.

I took my new 6.5 x 55 up the range on sunday (well its new to me) with some loads the previous owner had made up (44gr n160 on 123gr heads). anyways most of the ejecting cases had powder burn markings round the base of the case (round the ejector ring) and on the actual bolt face. what would cause this???
-
psssst a little hint, it begins in S and ends in N and has 7 letters
-
nope, because it will not be a live projectile its just the head, and you can take the components anywhere you like, it only becomes an offence when they are all combined to create a live round.
-
well reading that post it looks like a possibly good thing, i may try and get both in 55gr and see what the difference is in crono and accuray and of course price.
-
Another question for you reloading boffins out there. I brought a few .223 v-max head the other month to see what my rifle liked, i got some 40gr 50gr and 55gr. my question is, the 40gr's were a moly coated head (well they were grey which i think is moly coated) but are there any benifits of these over the standard copper or are they worse or exactly the same?????

Anyone got a Mannlicher Pro Hunter?
AzMaN replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i have a carl gustaff 1907 6.5 x55, cost me 100 notes, no idea what it shoot like though awaiting the next trip to bisley but it feels like a well built bit of kit. i must admit i did like the look of the styer's but i knew a chap that had one with the short fluted barrel, he said the only way he could shoot it was with the moderator on the end, without it he said it kicked worse than a cannon (that was a 7.62 though). -
well i have 2 loads that were pre made for me, 50 x 123gr's and about 30 139gr's so i shall see which are better and stick with them.
-
I brought a 700 sps, the stock was shockingly poor, for £700 you would atleast expect it to be free floating. Now with a H&S stock on it it shoots like a dream although it dose weight a ton (varmit barrel, heavy scope and T8 mod). but i must add i do love the 700 action, and am i right in saying alot of custom rifles use the 700 action????

you should be ok they are match bullets, soft point and ballistic are the no no.ask at the shop first though just to be sure. so i would assume that as midway say Lapua Scenar Bullets 264 Caliber, 6.5mm (264 Diameter) 139 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Boat Tail Box of 100 Designed for long range and bench rest shooting, Scenar bullets were used to set a world record perfect score in the 300 meter Moscow championship match. Factory testing has resulted in 10-shot groups that averaged 50mm at 300 meters. then these would be able to be brought on a normal ticket. although

I brought a 6.5x55 off a freind a few months ago that previously belonged to another member of a club who unfortunatly passed away. my friend has shot a few of these rounds but never reloaded them but i have the previous owners reloading data. on the paper i have 139gr Lapua bullets and these look like FMJ yet when i look on midway and suchlike i can only find 139 in hollow point which i assume as i dont have expanding ammunition on my ticket i cant buy. any suggestions???

Well i can only guess they were, they were following the orange little concrete signs from the road to the other side of our land. a couple of men were spotted doing it so ive been told but i honestly cant see much of a reason for doing it, it was too thin to take much current or last very long either. Its about the same strength cable that we use in the aircraft industry for things like emergency controls, so it can be esaly broken when needed but not so that you can accidently use it. not worth weighting in tbh didnt weight muc more than a kilo i wouldnt have thought. lol well actual

I went down the farm i work weekends on last night and after a conversation with a couple of the horsie people they said they had come across alot of wire running through the fields, one lot was at head hight through a footpath gate and this is rather thin cable, like cheese wire but copper (can be broken with a bit of force) but it was following the gas main that runs under our fields. Now beside measureing what would they be doing that for??? bearing in mind it was tight in some places and loose in others. Also health and saftey here but shouldnt it have been marked as being there (
