  1. Just a little update, i changed the stock for a aluminium block one (a hogue) and replaced the trigger, went out to play with some homeloads, and got them all under an 1" at 50yards, and one powder weight at .3" which will do me for hunting. tryed the norma v-max again got them down to 1/2inch. didnt try the remmy's
  2. Ive brought the "Napier Gunstock Finish Kit" to give my old stock a bit of a facelift. On the leaflet it comes with it says alow 1 to 2 hours between coats but dosn't say how long the final drying time is. at the moment its had about 12hours to cure, and it still feels a bit tacky, not enogth to damage the finish but you feel it sticking to your skin abit. any ideas as to final cure time before polish???
  3. ya ive found the basic history on the round's and the rifle group as a whole, but i was looking more for this specific rifle's history i.e its service history. (if thats even possible to find out)
  4. I've recently aquired a carl gustav 6.5x55mm rifle, its dated 1907 on the front of the reveiver so its fairly old and i would like to know any history behind it, i.e is this the original caliber, where and who used it during the war if it was. dose anyone know a site to fund such information??
  5. well they are meant to take care of the vermin but all they seam to care about is the fox's as thats all that will afect them, they leave the rabbits and flying rats which affect the land owner. I purely shoot vermin, I wont touch the syndicates birds atall. i see your point that they do pay for the shooting and dont have to invite me or the owner along i thought it would be nice to show their appriciation for the work we have done for them. anyways im going to hunt for some new land so i can actualy get some shooting thats remotly hassle free.
  6. thats certainly not true, most reloaders will have full length re-sizing die's which will return the cases back to factory dimensions.
  7. Now i would like to ask your opinions on this situation as ive no idea what the common practice of a shooting syndicate is. I currently work on a farm, i have done for 5 years now, where a syndicate pays the farmer X ammount per year to run a game shoot, also added onto this ammount is the work carried out by us for there game cover ect ect. This season i did all their ground prep from ploughing to fertilizing but not the actual drilling (about 5 acres of land), mainly because the farmer was busy and they were worrying about it not being done on time. In april i got my FAC and the
  8. I got a cz silhouette 16" with SAK mod for my first rimmy, good for target and lamping out a car, although sometimes i wish i had got a semi-auto for patch of 4-5 rabbits, normaly can only take 2 before the others realise whats going on
  9. Deker: I gave it a good clean inside and out when i brought it and a good clean with patches and cleaner before i put it away. Ill pop to my local shop for a few more diff types of ammo for it see how it goes when i get the trigger kit. I may just sell the bits on ebay that i take off see if anyone buys them. Jamie: as for geting the H&S stock, thats way too far out of my budget for a stock, id rather pay 150 for it including bedding than 300 for it not to need bedding and the current stock definatly isnt free floating and ive seen films of people making the stock bedded an
  10. I can see your point deker and yes it probably will cost more than a new T3 or suchlike but you live and learn, and i think it makes it more mine when its customised if that makes sense. The mag conversion was just an idea but looking at the kit costs im happy with the spring door its not causing me any trouble. I think free-floating the barrel will help as will the trigger replacment but the proof is in the pudding as they say.
  11. ya thats what made me raise the issue i saw that one but thats alot of discount:/
  12. I'm not overly bothered about the mag side of it, i want to improve the accuracy more than anything. I've brought a Timney trigger, not recieved it yet though I'm waiting for it to arrive. How do the states/uk customs work on sending firearm parts over?? or is it a case of order and hope they miss it?
  13. I brought a 2nd hand Remington 700 SPS varmit in .223 the other day (synthetic stock, 2 swivel mounts at the front one at the back, vent strips at the front) picture at below this text. But ive noticed its not a free floating barrel which is a bit dissapointing rearly as the gun itself is rather nice. alot of peole have said its a pain to bed the stock and sujested geting a hogue or similar but ive no idea if i have an ADL, BDL, Short acton, Long action assembly. I'd also like to convert it to a magazine version if possible but im not overly fussed about that i just want the accuracy. (even ma
  14. fiber wads all the way, less of an eyesore on the land and keeps the farmer happy when he dosnt have to keep removing the plastic wads from the seed drills
  15. I'm about to start reloading my .223 i'm going for balistic tips for the reason that i wont be taking deer with it so im not worried about meat damage. I think balistic tiped rounds fragment where as soft point just expand causing less meat damage (that may be totaly wrong of course but it was my understanding of it).
  16. i tryed clay shooting with a single barrel 12g and my god did my soulder hurt after 75carts, kicked like a mule. now i have a nice semi
  17. my book says that the min and max load's are less powder with the 130 than the 133 but with slightly slower speed (150m/s diff at full load).
  18. I requested the breech lock kit as an xmas pressie, ive ordered the die's but forgot to get the case length tool but i should be able to pick one when i go and get some powder and primers oh and i ordered so 50gr v-max and some 55gr v-max to see how they work. Looking at the Vihtavouri book that came with the kit i was looking at getting the N130 or N133 powder any preferences to which?? also has anyone watched this guys reloading videos?? 19. Im sure my remmington 700 manual says this. So AzMaN, will you be using Nato 5.56 ammo in your .223 Remington? no chance, i intend to use it with the ammo its designed for that being .223
  20. Im sure my remmington 700 manual says this.
  21. i have 6.5 x 55 on my ticket but again thats not that un-common is it?
  22. i think thats the best plan, buy lots of differnt sorts and see what groups best, then improve on it with re-loading (in theory). im sure the poor grouping is just me and the horrible trigger apart from the accutips which are just rubish through it. Ill try and have a play next week with it and see if i can better it.
  23. new gun well i say that it was second hand gun shop said only few rounds been put through it and bloke traded it it because it was too big for the permision he had and got a 17hmr
