  1. I see, so looking like the style will get the thumbs up then
  2. Right hopefully in the next week ill be in the position of purchasing a nice new 22lr. I visited my local shop, looked at his range of CZ's and the style caught my eye mainly because of the synthetic stock. Now as i understand the varmint has a heavyer barrel which makes small body movements less noticable when holding the rifle, am i correct? now the question is, being as i will be doing range and field shooting (ill be puting more rounds down the range but spending more time out in the field probably from a bipod) will the non-varmint style make that much of a difference over an amer
  3. Just had my visit, such a nice bloke just like a chat rather than an intervi he said should have my cert by end of next week Thanks for all the help you guys have given me its been greatly appriciated.
  4. as far as i know they will only disclose what was said not who said it.
  5. Yey, got the call today, interview next thursday, i shall prepare the tea and cake ready for him
  6. my local club i find very freindly and full of commoners like me we all have a laugth, i find it quite good fun rather than poping paper targets on my own in the field once a week with noone but myself to talk to
  7. I had one of them, super accurate, not many shots to a fill though, and i never could get into its effective range when stalking, maybe i need to practice my fieldcraft skills a bit
  8. for a new rifle, do you have to "ware it in" so to speak before it will group well, i.e put a hundred or so rounds through it? then try to find the best grouping ammo?
  9. Wow, you lot are quite harsh Although rearly you bf should be teaching you the basics first hand, not you coming on here to ask others to teach you, after all hes the one with the .243 and so should know all the basics himself (if he dosnt he shouldnt be shooting). But good for you for trying new things, but i would recomend staring on a .22lr far less recoil and far more leanient for learners.
  10. My force are bloody fast to cash the cheque, they havent even come out to see me yet :/
  11. Ive nothing against them personaly, and for the range i think they are perfectly acceptable, and in some ways look quite good, but its not worth the risk of taking it out after quary, if someone sees someone walking round with a standard rifle, they will more than likely understand the purpose but if they see you with what looks like a military weapon, i'm sure they would be straight onto the old bill more hassel than its worth imo. (i know im commenting on my own topic, just putting more of my views out there)
  12. Ive met a rew people recently down the range who use 10/22's dressed up as M16's, MP5's ect ect. Dose anyone actualy use them to hunt or are they purely for show/range purposes??

you can get fox on a rimmy ticket, im sure ive seen a few people with it, and its capable of taking a fox too within the limitations of the gun and its owner.
  14. congrats on the FAC (my referee just got the form send back to them as they just put "NONE" as answers to the questions) can i ask why going for the semi (not that i have anything against them i just love useing the bolt action)
  15. i didnt think you could shoot pheasants with an airgun, or did i miss-read that somewhere.
  16. lol thats quality, some people are so ungratefull, it may not be the one she saw, but its still 1 less fox to eat them tasty chickens
  17. Just an update, forms sent off today for my .22lr + mod, and shotgun cert. Now need to wait for the phone call for a date
  18. i just think my lack of experience with any explosive based gun, be it shotgun or rimfire, will go against me. I think im just bein pesimistic rearly.
  19. Ah that sounds better, i thought maybe they would accept the shotgun and decline the section 1, then id have to apply again later and have 2 different dates. can i get "police approved gun clubs" added to the fac? so that if i do wish to join a club i can? and if so where do i put it. sorry for being so undecicive i just want to maximise my chances of being granted. thanks for taking time out to help me too, it much appriciated.
  20. not for a co-termonious it wont will it?
  21. This can certainly do no harm, but club target work has little or nothing to do with walking around the countryside shooting vermin!! If you have the land and the reason then you do not need any club target shooting background!! Hmmmm its catch 22, i suppose i should be optimistic and go for it now, but if they reject it, means i then have to spend another £50 6moths later by going through a club. what do you sugest go for it now or wait? (i intend to do some target shooting anyways but not as much as feild targets)
  22. ok, ive had a change of plan, which in my opinion is for the best. Im going to join a club, i think it will give me better training in the long run than being self taught, and will show to the FLO when i do apply that im sensible, have the safety and shooting background behind me. I know its going to be another 6 months wait, but thats 6 months of gaining advice and picking up good shooting skills (and it keeps me busy on a couple of nights a week). Agree?
