Note to self : Cant sqeek cows in. proves why its wise always to identify your target before taking the shot.

They should only call the ARV if youve been reported for an incident, not for a genral stop check. The firearms flag will probably be put on the car if youve been pulled before and you have been carrying a firearm, but not going off the fact you have an FAC. but there again who knows how the system works nowadays.

ohhhh i like that idea, be nice to have a personal hunting knife.
-
thanks for all these different knife's your sugesting although most of them are folding knifes which im not overly keen on. i think it will have to be 2 different knifes probably a cheapie one like the moira (but find a nicer sheath for it) for the farm as ill no-doubt use it as a screwdriver or leaver and snap it at some point. i shall browse through the list of makes you have listed for a nice hunting tool. keep the sugestions coming though its all helpfull. dose the blade angle make much diffence too???
-
I was given a Helle knife for my 21st, now i know knifes are brought to be used ect ect but i cant bring myself to use this one just yet. Ive had a fair few in the past, from folding straight bladed greber, to the swiss army pocket knife, and even the bowie (5inch) but i cant seem to find one that lasts very long (working on a farm they tend to get chiped or blunt within a few days use. Im looking for one with a guthook, non-folding but keeps its edge for some time, it also needs to be able to take heavy duty useage from being a farm worker aswell as a hunter, and has a sheath too.

i agree, mines zeroed at 100yard as thats where most of my shooting is at, and just work out the drop at the longer ranges.
-
i brought one from midway i think, mine just have the ribbs to fit the rounds in, its open at both ends, so can be fitted to either side of the stock . http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?SaleItemID=230112 - similar to this, cant remeber the exact one

it has front and rear lights, no indicators though. the distance limit is only for red deisel i thought but i may be wrong. trouble is then im paying silly amounts more for mot, tax and insurence to use it twice a year on the road. not even sure where the local mot station for quads is round here. thanks for the link, missed that on my initial search.

Howdie all, Ive just brought an 06 plate quadbike, its nice, quick and the tax is free as its registered as an agricultural machine, but theres a catch, the law as i understand it says it can only travel between place of registration and an agricultural premisis as i read it, which means the airport i work at wont count. I dont intend to use it all the time, im looking at snow days so i can actualy get to work as the council round here dont know how to clear a road. Anyway obviously tractors ect get contracted out to places that are not farms, such as building sites, footbal pitches ect, s

I have a wildcat on my .223 but its each to their own tbh i dont think their is much in it with moderators sound wise, just the lighter you want the more expencive they get.
-
I got rid of my pajero the other month in favor of getting somthing a bit more ecconomical and then a little quad for going round the land lamping and im starting to regret that idea now all the quads on ebay n the like are either useless road legal ones that would get stuck in a small puddle. or old 1990's models that look like they have been draged through a warzone and still silly money. why are they worth soo much??, im considering geting an old 4x4 car and just choping the roof off instead.

How much .223 & .243 ammo does you FAO allow
AzMaN replied to NewBarnFerrets's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
my ticket alows me to buy 300 of both .223 and 6.5x55 (including expanding) and hold 500, im with bedfordshire i can also buy 1000 .22 and hold 1500 .22 at a time. although i dont hold anywhere near 500 centerfire rounds (more like 100) the fact i can buy 300 at a time means i can buy bulk box's of V-max heads (250's) to keep the cost of reloading down a touch. -
both have their own pro's and cons, overall the 22.250 will be more expensive to shoot and in theory if your buying ammo will wear the barrel out quicker than a .223 but its a fair few shots before that happens (1000's) .223 has more range of factory ammo but reloading them the differnece will be pence for the extra powder in the 22.250. .22-250 flatter and alot faster than the .223 but more of a bark frm the muzzle. horses for courses rearly, i went .223 just for the fact i had been given 100's of cases but if i was starting out again i may have gone the 22.250 route for the flatt

my 6.5x55 has the same issue, ive been told if i use a heavyer round nose bullet it will be closer to the lands, not sure if that will be the same for your .204 . Is it new??
-
yes but you wont be alowed to hunt with it.

Ive just changed from a T8 to a P8 Wildcat (compact i think to fit over the 20in barrel) and i must say that this wildcat has nothing on the T8 in terms of noise reduction that thing was briliant. The only downside to the T8 was the welds that hold the baffles in crack. Still i like the fact that all the parts on the wildcat are replacable and its a bit lighter than the T8. horses for courses i suppose.

what about using them for say 100 - 200 yards? what kinda powder reduction should i be putting in to stop them desintigrating, we talking 20% less or more of a reduction??
-
As i said in another post about dismantleing some made up rounds, i brought about 500 lead moulded bullets aswell, they are 140gr gass checked with 6 groves 4 of which contain some red stuff i can only assume is grease. when i pulled his loads he was using about 13gr of powder (indoor work posibly??) anyways i cant find any poper loading data on these. are they as usable at long ranges (600yards) should i still start with the min loads for the weight, or alot less? or are they totaly useless apart from short range?
-
I brought a load of gear off a chap that is selling up, and in the box of bits was about 20 made up rounds. I borowed a mates puller and seperated them out (obviously i dont want to put someone elses homeloads down my rifle) but now i have a small pot full of powder that i want rid of. whats the best way?? i thought about diging a hole and burying it.

I have a receipt from the shop stateing they will buy it from me and are currently holding it for me so as i can get my 1 for 1. I rang up my FEO for the meeting, when i talked to him before about it he said that was the easyest way to do it rather than via post, plus i might request a couple more conditions added to my ticket but we shall see what happens. I still want a .223 as i have all the loading gear for it but i want to sell the remmy 700 varmit and get a lighter styer, tika or similar.
-
Howdie people, Im looking to do a 1 for 1 on my FAC (get rid of one .223 to get another) so i rang up the firearms liscencing guys and made an appointment to see the FEO and he said i needed to take my old certificate and Form 101. Now thinking about it i should have asked how best to fill it back out but ill ask you guys instead. Do i fill it as though i still own the .223 that im going to sell (its currently at the shop so im not in posesion of it any more) or do i put that i want a .223 in the firearms to aquire coloum, or both?? do i still need to fill in all the max ammo bits?

Armed Cops leave mag in childs bedroom
AzMaN replied to Urban Fox Control London's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I know the guy they are after is armed, but rearly 20 rounds to take him down!, and assuming its a spare mag and there was another 20 loaded in the rifle, thats alota firepower to take on 1 man -
when my mod gets like this i clean the whole rifle, usualy about 500 rounds. or when it gets wet it gets a full clean out.

What sub round in a .22 CZ 452
AzMaN replied to whippeter69's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
i used to use ely subs but now im on RWS and tbh they are geting me 99-100's in bench rest comps, i mean zeroing. -
I measured the OAL needed for my mauser the other week, and well theres no posible way of geting the bullet to touch the rifleing and get it in the case. So i was thinking, my vit reloading manual states for 144gr heads used a OAL of 3.110. so say i raised this length to 3.223 (so its still inside the case and holding but nearer the rifleing on the gun. Is this acceptable, and i gather from what i read that this will increase the pressure therefore needing less powder???
