  1. Me and my mate headed for a bit of farm ground this morning with my dog and few ferrets. The morning was slow with only 4 by lunchtime, After that we decided that the big warrens werent worth the time & moved onto the quicker smaller sets, which turned out to be a good move as we took another 12 by 4 oclock, the dog accounting for a lot that missed the nets & retrieving purse nets with a rabbit intact Our first dig was 7ft, when a small jill left a warren with no collar, I dug till I couldnt see out, and got the collar eventually. The farmer showed us his tarmac lane in the ev
  2. Peg, Whats the best way to set the end poles then? And by tieing in every 2 yards you mean the bagging?
  3. Peg you must set your poles on your net quite close when your expecting big bags like that in 100yrd nets? I used a 100yrd last year and thought because the fibreglass poles I had where so strong I would get away with 8 yards, the net set ok, But when I got more than one rabbit in a section, they pulled the top line to the ground, making it low enough for others to get over
  4. Very well done...Sounds like a good night
  5. I had some kitts advertised in the local paper, I had them at £10 each. Some nutter rung me early this morning and said she had been a ferret breeder for ten years and people where cancelling there "Ordered" kitts because they had seen others advertised cheaper She said I was selling them too cheap and because there was a FERRET FLU going round there would be a shortage and I should put my prices up to match hers Has anybody heard of a ferret flu, Because I havent, and I have no intention of matching any prices with any over priced ferret peddler....
  6. Ferret Kits, Northern Ireland, £10 each - Albinos, Polecats and Sandys, a few left.
  7. The wind was going hard up here last night, the first good wind since early in the year, So we couldnt waste it!
  8. I went out for a few runs last night with my dog Ruby, we had a good walk about and got four rabbits. The last rabbit headed straight for a small fence and tried to jump it, Ruby snapped him in the air and knocked it higher up again, and then caught it as it hit the ground...Brilliant
  9. Its a great video, smoking away at 90!
  10. Very nice, are they this years young?
  11. Cheers Buster, how many fills could I expect from a 300 bar 3 litre?
  12. I have bought an Air Arms S410, I was using a pump, But I am looking for a bottle, (After bending my shoulders upwards)! whats the best one to go for? A local man told me to go for 300bar and not to worry about litres, and Ive read to get the maximum litres and not worry about bar.............?? Cheers
  13. I use a 50lb class rod, with an Abu 7500, Berkeley Big Game 60lb Line onto a 15ft Rubbing trace of 200lb mono, because the Porbeagles skin is so rough he will snap anything lighter if he gets twisted in it, onto the rubbing leader is a wire trace and a 10/0 O'Shaughnessey Hook with a mackerel flapper on the end, everything is linked with 500lb Big Game swivels. And a balloon for a float. For Rubby Dubby I use chopped mackerel, scad or whatever is about, mixed with pilchard oil or any fish oil.
  14. I have had a lot of success using very small bits of mackerel with skin, free lined on Kamasan B980 size 2, with braid...Bread has also worked, as well as a bread fly on the fly rod. To draw them in I use bread with pilchard oil, tuna, or anything oily mxed with the bread, pushed into an onion bagnhung on the harbour wall.
  15. Im looking forward to going, I usually always start in September, But its still very humid, A good tight frost would be good, but its a while off yet!

  19. any chance of seeing some pics charley,, with the sigma.. wondered what it was like against [canon lenses] using the focusing rail and cable release.. maybe one day charlie......i will be getting a canon macro so it will be good to compare...... I will let you know charlie.. But, i will say for macro, flash is essential for good pics...JMHO>...JD I did try the Canon MP-E 65mm 2.8 1-5x Macro...Very good, But very expensive, Hence why I "Tried" it, I find the sigma equally as good though against canon equivalents. Hi FF. i dont think you can compare the two

  21. Your shutter speed is too slow, put the camera to shutter priority & adjust the s/s until your getting the shot you need, then you can turn down your iso as far as you can without messing with the shutter speed - The higher the iso the more noise you will get in the picture. After that work on the metering a bit.

  23. Longnetter, Making a Long Net up from sheet netting is very handy to do, The sheet netting I bought came tied up in a bunch, All I done was measure out my running lines of 100yrds - Untie the cord used to bunch the sheet netting, tie my running lines to the end of that and pull it through...Done, then all is left to do is tie in the top and bottom lines to the net, set your bagging and attach the poles. There is a post pinned somewhere showing how to do it.
