    Could I

If you want a 100yrd Net, then you will need to sew 200yrds of net, to allow sufficient bagging, You dont actually stitch the bagging in as you say. As for a mesh above and below the main mesh, this is called a salvedge edge / mesh and is thicker than the mesh and is added to strengthen the net against the running line you will thread through at the end.

It grows straight up in big clumps, there will be small nuts on it now, whitey / green coloured, usually big patches all the same, you couldnt miss it. I have put some pictures below
  3. Good advice from everyone.... Welshshrek, The first thing you should do is get Molecatchers book, Long Netting from Peg To Peg, It will help you out a lot. But for the nets you have now, It depends if you want to use the traditional method of end pins and Hazel sticks, or use a quickset basket - For 18yrd nets, I would get a set of end pins for each one, you can get these from Molecatcher or most net sellers etc. You could if you wanted get a quickset basket, attach some fibreglass poles & do it that way, Its very easy and you could get the hang of it in a few minutes, But

  8. Can anybody recommend good water proof gear, thats not cammo, maybe olive green, I need trousers and a coat, Nothing to heavy as I find with ferreting your running about a lot and a big heavy coat is too warm - I have seen some of the deer hunter stuff on ebay, the water proof fleece lokks light enough to run about in, But I wasnt sure how good it was

  16. I came across a good ferret cub today and it ws very cheap, it will suit a couple of young ones I have held back for myself, But unlike the other cubs I have had where the floors where done in some sort of black water proof /anti rot type stuff, this cub floor is just plain ply, which looks to me like it wont last long after they start to use the corner, what would be good and safe to proof it with, as the stuff the other cubs is painted with has done the job for the last few years but I dont know what it is.
  17. Stubby, dont you find the rabbits just running the hedge line and down the next hole if you set the net along it like that? Or did you have it purse netted too? I have only done one ditch like that ferreting and they all run up the hedge line and into the next holes.
  18. What a book.... A brilliant tale of a brilliant dog - Follow Scooby and his partner J Darcy the length of the country as they pursue some amazing quarry, this is a brilliant and exciting tale of one man and his outstanding dog, the stories will have you on the edge of your seat as Scooby "flips" everything from Roe Deer to Feral Goat & everything in between...Definitely the best Lurcher book so far from Darcy, In every book we see it get better and better, But this will be as hard to beat as Scooby, A brilliant read & the best book of the year for me, I just wish it was longer! 10/
  19. Not really a Long Netting subject, But I was checking out a field tonight where the farmer gave me permission to Long Net, I came to the gate and there was the local nutter / village idiot! He started asking what I was at and I told him I was in having a look if there where many rabbits about, He started telling me something about when he was young he used to stuff the ditches with straw and then walk the rabbits into the holes where they would try to get down, but end up half stuck and he would lift them out, Now only I have heard something of this before or I would have just put it down to h
