  1. Sometimes I think they get lazy and its easy enough for them to eat dry than chew meat off the bone. Take the dry out when your giving em meat.
  2. Mines not secured but it cant be budged from the floor. Im no expert but you could use some L shape brackets to screw it to the floor (on the inside). Or you could use those fence post brackets, like a sqaure box that tightens up and you bolt it to the ground. Hmm dont know how you would do it though.
  3. Feed them raw, I cut each one into 3 with some garden secatures.
  4. As others have said, gotta keep em cool in the heat. Mine have lots of blankets from quid shop and shredded paper in winter. When I put my hand in there its red hot! They grow nice big fluffy coat aswell & sleep in a pile
  5. I have jills spayed and hobs castrated. Nowt to worry about then and they can all live together
  6. So you've only just got ferrets and you're already on about breeding them. Is it me or is anyone else fed up of people saying or asking about breeding ferrets. Dont bother breeding them theres plenty of ferrets around, leave that to the experienced breeders.
  7. Dont use normal milk it will give them the shits. I use cat milk or lactofree milk for the ferrets as a treat once a week. Both low in lactose. Doesnt give my ferrets the shits.
  8. Have you tried bathgate or tayside ferret rescue? Are they near you?
  9. Well cant the person just pop in a bowl of dry in each day? They will be shitted up by the time you get back plus if its hot etc someone need to keep an eye on them to make sure their keeping cool. Most rescues do boarding and its so cheap and atleast ya know their gonna get seen to properly.
  10. I got wireless burglar alarm from ebay, I only use the box and the door contact on the shed. Its loud and its wireless so no wires can be cut, also as anti tamper function that sets if someone try ragging it off wall. Its a yale one.
  11. It might be the other jill showing her whos boss. I would put abit of savlon onnit this will help cuts heal aswell as normally stopping the other ferret from grabbing the other as they dont like the taste
  12. Buy 1 get 1 free vitalin. http://www.molevalleyfarmers.com/mvf/store/products/vitalin-ferret-food-2kg
  13. Nice ferrets, look so healthy.
  14. Ours are pets, live in big run with hammocks etc, soft as a brush. But when they are out ferreting they bolt the bunnies. If thats what you mean by pets.
  15. Probably just deep sleeping. I have one that does it all the time, hes deaf aswell so he cant hear you.
  16. Why dont people animals take animals to the vet instead of posting on a forum. f*****g winds me up. As to the first reply, would you do same to your best working dog? Seeing a vet when an animal is clearly ill is the responsibility you take on when you take on any animal.
  17. Ring all vets in area & all rescues. Put posters up. Leave box out with bedding & food. Hope you find him.
  18. No, just meat and dry ferret food. They might survive onnit but they will struggle to digest bread & milk. Also if you have ferrets you should AlWAYS have food for them without having to give sap.
  19. Depends how far into season the hobs are is to how long to wait till you can put them together. If theyve only just come into season and you get them done it wont take long at all, but if theyve been in season a whilse it will take about 3/4 weeks for hormones to calm down.
  20. Get a large square cheap tray from wilkos i found ferrets seem to prefer it when they can get their whole body in the tray not like them triangle ones. I use woodbased litter in theirs, just the cheap stuff think its called beuticat. Make sure you fasten the tray down somehow or buy two of the same tray fasten one down and put the other one inside it
  21. Kits need raw meat, rabbit, chicken wings, cheap frozen mince. Puppy food = puppys ,Cat food = cats. Get dry ferret food such as alpha, vitalin or james wellbeloved. Leave that down all the time, moistened with warm water for kits. Of course water 24/7. If you have a pets at home near you they will sell their own ferret food & frozen blocks of pet mince etc for now.
  22. Delivery is £5.35 but free on orders over 45 quid. Ive ordered from them before and had no problems. Waiting for mine to arrive.
  23. I feed mine dry ferret food 24/7 & raw meat such as rabbit, phesant, chicken wings or mince at night. To give them abit of variety I use a mix of dry, they also get raw egg once a week & cat milk.
  24. I use heavy dog bowls too, but the small coop cups are great for putting underneath water bottles too to catch any drips
