  1. Dry (JWB, Supa ferret, Vitalin), raw chicken wings, lactofree milk.
  2. Does your daughters bestfriends mother know you've named a ferret after her daughter
  3. I just use olive oil, the one you get for your own ears from wilko. Im guesing the cooking stuff is just the same? Put it in a syringe and put a couple of drops in each ear rub the ear gently to massage it down. It will soften all the wax and it will come upto the surface. Vet told me to do this to prevent ear mites. The others will also give their ears a good cleaning after aswell. If it has got ear mites you will need to get stronghold or the beaphar stuff to kill the mites. Dont ever go inside the ears. & its best to scruff them whilst your doing it.
  4. Horrible things they are. I found 1 on one of mine yesterday, others didnt have any though. They others must of brought it back. Is there different types of ticks as they all look different. One I found was a light blue colour. I use one of them tick remover things, got it off ebay for a couple of quid and I think its well worth it.
  5. If she doesnt do it all the time might be pain related you could be touching a pain spot. Get her checked out by a vet then you can rule that out.
  6. Mine got out of a run made of chicken wire. Goes rusty then it weakens. I gues the ferrets must have clawed and chewed at it. I found cheapest place for roll of mesh is wickes.
  7. Never seen those before. I use the giant rabbit ones. They hold a litre and spout is much thicker so more water easier for them.
  8. Ever heard of taking on an animal for life. Ferrets are not pokemon cards, just swap them here & then when you feel like it.
  9. My vet tells me the same, they dont need worming.
  10. Ive just got shed and fence paint on the outside, red cedar. On the inside I painted it with emulsion, wish I didnt now as its started flaking off
  11. No petshops near me so buy online, generally use feedem.co.uk. I get big sacks of it and use few different brands.
  12. Ring all vets, ferret rescues, rspca lost & found line, council, dog & cat boarding places. Anywhere where anyone would take a ferret.
  13. no 5 castrated here, all work perfectly fine.
  14. You can still get the household flea spray without perscription. It wil probs be much cheaper here than at the vets. http://www.vetuk.co.uk/flea-treatments-household-flea-sprays-c-3_419/indorex-household-flea-spray-500ml-can-p-677
  15. They say aslong as stuff you use doesnt go 'cloudy' when added to water its safe. Alot of people I know use mistral, you can get it from ebay. Theres also one called virkon. As for the getting rid of eggs etc in the hutches, use spray from the vets for houses. But you wont be able to put the ferrets in for a day or so untill all fumes etc have gone Frontline spray you cant buy online without a perscription from you vet, but you can get it over the counter at the vets. If you want to keep the two hobs together and they are ripping each other apart its best off getting them castrat
  16. Ferrets will be ferrets not guinea pigs lol. As there kits they'll be just full of energy and want to run about. They calm down as they get older. I pick mine up after theyve well fed and been running around the garden or in the run and tired themselves out but I dont expect them to sit still on my lap as there ferrets there not gonna. I sit on the floor and let them come to me. Just give them some olive oil/ferretone whilst your holding em that'll keep em still and they'll associate handling with good things.
  17. I have posted this on another ferret forum under lost & found.
  18. Got some burgess realy cheap, mixed it in with others they have & had no problems. They have dry aswell as meat. Dont think they do big bags in it though so wont be buying it after.
  19. What are you feeding them, are you putting in plenty? Other than that might be just a case of im the boss and im eating first before you lol.
  20. Not sure but I wouldnt put owt on them for parasites unless you've actually seen something on em.
  21. First make sure their pogged up on raw meat. A full kit is less likley to bite. Also make sure theyve burnt some enegery off in the garden or in the house before you start picking them up and messing with em. If there not drawing blood and their just breaking the skin then they are probably just trying to play with you. You say you have JUST got theese kits, their still settling in, different sounds, smells, different place everything new to them. They need more time to settle. What I would do is stroke em and talk to em whilst their lapping up cats milk and a whisked up raw egg
  22. Doesnt matter how big the cage is their still gonna shit in same corner! Ferrets need lots of space, they cant just live in a small rabbit hutch because you cant be arsed to clean a big hutch. I personally clean everyday. Also putting a kit on its own is not fair IMO. It would need to get out of the cage quite alot for run about. Just saying, not having a go. Mine live in shed and court, theres some pics on here somewhere if you search court or hutch in the search box. As for food, kits want as much raw meat as they will eat, you can also leave dry ferret food down for them aswel
  23. Normally you just pay the price it cost the rescue to have them neutered. Any good rescue will neuter. But obviously id give abit more as they still cover food, bedding and vet bills for other ferrets out their own pocket. Plus ferret rescues normally get cheaper neutering from the vets. So if your getting an adult rescue ferret neutered for a donation of 20 or 30 quid. It usually costs over £50 if I take them myself so you are saving. They can only charge what the vet charges them for neutering & neutering is the only way to stop idiots breeding them.
