    im a big believer in getting them out there young, the onlyway to make it level headed Me to mate there is no point leaving them in the kennel ... She will be having a little 20 minuet ferreting session next week to learn all about the different nets ... Education education education ..........

    Took Tilly out today for her usual walk but decided to walk through the woods outside my house as the shoot were in a different area today .... It proved to be a good idea as she seen a load of different game and nothing phased her ... There were dozens of partridge and pheasant one took off right next to her out of the bracken ... No panick no yelp she just watched it fly off and carried on ... Seen 4 squirrels which instantly flicked her switch and she was off after them ...     I agree and I believe in the same system ... Once I have jabbed the pups I don't give them a booster except for the leptosperosis jab as I know of a few dogs that contracted lepto after not being boosted ......

    no nothing to do with elecy prices, the 2 in the kennels have been mainly without heat for 5 and 10yrs respectively with no ill effects, there is a heat lamp in the kennel and occasionally i do use it, but i think it makes me feel better more than the dogs if they were ment to have heating then their fur coats would come with a zip Ferrets were also fed on bread and milk for years doesn't mean it was right does it ... None of my fathers dogs had heat lamps as there were no such thing years ago ... But times move on and we learn more and that means we can give our animals a better qualit

    Yep .... I noticed the difference heat makes to a dog when i Was racing greyhounds ... Come the winter we always rugged the dogs up overnight to keep them warm it helped keep a consistent weight on the dogs which is important when you are running in big money opens but the dogs would perform differently the next morning on sprint training depending on how cold it had been the night before ... On the real cold nights the dog coats obviously were not doing the job adequately enough so we put in heat lamps and the difference was instantaneous the dogs timings on the morning workout were far

    It's common sense really fellas whether the dog has had a hard day or nights work or whether he has gone into the kennel wet or dry then putting some heat on the dog is a bonus ... If the dog is cold through the night then it will use the food it has eaten to insulate itself instead of it being absorbed correctly by the body ... A cold dog will constantly involuntary contract and relax its muscles as the blood pushes through trying to warm up ... The heart has to work slightly harder to push warm blood around the body as the dog burns reserves to keep warm ... The dogs muscles cannot heal the

    GET THEM JABBED FOR LEPTOSPEROSIS EVERY YEAR ... A good mate of mine that owned a well known Lakeland 20 odd years ago that was machine at working died at the age of 7 after a poxy days ratting during the summer ... It's the only jab I give my dogs every year without fail ... That terriers death was a massive shame to the terrier gene pool .........
