Or a pistol???, Sawn off 12g?? Sorry, it's a thing with me, and the question has been raised quite a few times on here in the last couple of weeks. You will get views both ways, but if you reverse the question and ask if shortening the gun will make it more accurate?, I guess you would get a 100% NO answer. Go figure from there

police took my shotgun certificate
cyclonebri1 replied to John-B's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi mate, From my personnel experience, in retrospect, if you tell them (honestly), that you have no mental issues, they will take that as read unless someone provides info to the contary . Again, being on anti depressants is not grounds alone for a revoke in it's own right, they have to show you are a threat to "someone". Also, antidepressent drugs can also be provided for nerve/nervous conditions, niether of which should be a concern of the police. -
raymond. banned member trakker01,butcher,idleray. banned on here for conning people. As deker intimated, it's about wether you are shooting for sport, ie, you have blagged a farm or 2 and are happy with the shooting, so do not want to over shoot it, OR, You have vermin control over an area so have to make an impact, becouse if you don't, someone else will be on there next week. Generally shoot as many as you can, when it gets harder, give it a month, they breed like rabbits you know? this bit is the bit you need to read. banned member trakker01,butcher,idleray. b

How high is this pheasant?
cyclonebri1 replied to LordGamebore's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think the best indication is the time taken for them to hit the deck as thats real time and not a distorted by the camera. I'm sure some super smart person on here can quote a time it would take a bird to drop from 50 yds or so I know, too many variables -

35 to 40yds, no more. Suicidal plucker. Boar shooting much more impressive tho' -
Try lacing it with whiskey

Advise on shortening my .22lr barrel ?
cyclonebri1 replied to mike white's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
No offence Mike, but stop f****n about. Why pay that money for a "maybe" better balanced gun, but one which will be less stable. If you insist on doing this, £35 quid without proof, is more than enough to pay No offence taken but why am i f****n about ? i am just asking for advice and to be honest im not going to pay over the odds i would rather keep it as it is than pay half of what the guns worth ! im waiting for another person to ring me back with a price tommorow and see what there damage is ! That was what I meant, it's not worth it, plus doing it yourself with -

I think its the other way round?? Could be wrong but longer time in barrel gives higher muzzle velocity?? -

Ok, stand to be shot down as Deker indicated: Why the hell would you want to shorten the barrel?? You have a rifle, why make it a pistol??? I would always want a rifle against a carbine???? -
It means you've not been a naughty boy Brian

This post is going down a common route, yeh? We all know the lack of definision regarding fox/vermin blah blah blah. But, (and I have asked this question at least 5 times before), can anyone quote a single example of any shooter being prossecuted for shooting a fox with the "wrong" calibre????????????????

good advice that, i use winchester. I bet Eley's will shoot more consistantly ???????????????????

I bought one of those, yes they are made in China, but for the American market. I was amazed at the quality and it holds zero perfectly. Don't night shoot so can't comment there. Best thing, imported direct from the far east via Ebay I only paid £63 plus about £12 delivery. You should also consider the BSA Sweet 17 and 22. available in 4-18 x 40, sell at £99 in my local gunshop, bought one of each again off ebay for around £30 each. Again they perform fine, certainly for day use. ooooh, have heard baad things about those BSA sweet 17/22 scopes, people say that if you dial

And, looks very close range
-
better to think your way than some folks i used to know that would shoot at a fox at any range, but mine differ. atb Exactly mate, I've seen these folks too, doesn't matter what the shotty's loaded with, if Foxy shows 50yds off he gets both barrels Good Hunting
-
The same can be said about pheasant or rabbits or whatever, keep the range sensible and use the right shot and choke and you wont have a problem. Personally i use 36gm load of BB's with half choke no further than 35-40 yards out of my auto. The reality of using a shotgun is that the quarry isnt always killed cleanly, which is why its ideal to have a dog or 2 about that are suitable for the quarry your hunting, but using the right load and keeping the range sensible even a wounding shot should take enough out of the fox to be able to follow up and despatch as quikly as possible. Sorry

Fox? With the shotgun???? 20 yards Max with any load. Stand to be shot down but so many are left crippled with birdshot and indeeed the odd "buckshot" that it has to be said. Point blank range is best.

Phychological??? Always walk away when things get unexplainable, so often all is ok tommorrow. Or today now
-
I know what you mean Deker, but why oh why would you want a trigger so light in the woods ??????????????? Don't get me wrong,. back in my airgun days Steve at Ripley rifles produced guns with triggers that you only had to think fire and they did. Do these really have a place in sporting shooting? A crisp and predictable let off at a regular 1 to 1.5lb has to be safer?? How about the accu trigger fitted to all new Savage guns?

Replacing my 22 rimfire - advice need
cyclonebri1 replied to Gimli's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I'm a Ruger fan, but the 77/22 superb bolt action .22 I have tried the 10/22, and yes they are good fun, especially if you want to belt of 25 rounds of surplus ammo from a banana clip but as said earlier I wouldn't want a semi auto alone, get 2 or keep the bruno. My 1st was a bruno perfectly accurate, reliable gun only lacking in the quality of the bluing
