  1. Give me the .22 anyday, everyone I've had have been 100% reliable/repeatable. Still not got that confidence with the hmr
  2. Problem is Joe Public is now very accustomed to seeing this type of gun and associates it with trouble. Armed police at airports, armed responce etc. Fine on a range, outdoors, just asking for bother IMHO, anyway we'll all buy what we want so hey ho ('till they stop us)

  4. Maybe it shouldn't but maybe again it does. Many middle of the road folks can accept a sporting gun, but when they come accross a guy shimying around the woods with an out and out combat assault gun they will move their stance. Fair enough on the range.
  5. Personally I see no logical reason for owning such a clone, sends out all the wrong messages and is only inviting trouble for the user, but of course if one wants to play soldiers...................... The question is why would anyone want such a thing? My opinion, based on current anti shooting views and likely police procedures

I think so my mate go,s to scotland to shoot foxes with his air rifle, Thats why they are F.A.C. I,ve seen normal pelets disintergrate as they come out the gun, that how powerfull they are. i dident think fac would kill i fox cheers 35ftlb .22 will kill a fox at 30yds eye/ear shot, But having an FAC rated air rifle without a FAC carries the same penalty as having any other illegal firearm, so best approach is to get the ticket, then you can get a more suitable foxing tool. This is just the sort of advice the antis love ! eye/ear shot my arse. Although you are spot on wi

  8. Still very much on topic in my view and just the point I was making albeit in a more shocked way It cannot be considered a safe shot if it can only be taken from the position of not missing by more than a couple of inches We all get fliers and the issue is ever present of ricos regardless of calibre.
  9. Mate, if you fear taking shots where you could be 4" off target, you really are taking unsafe shots. If a yard or ten each way make the shot unsafe it is not a safe shot. For fucks sake???
  10. True, if it's like a deactivated shot gun, it needs to be deactivated in three ways, the firing pin(pins) has to be removed and weld up, the chamber(s) has to be plugged and welded, and the barrel(s) has to be milled out to prevent use. Country Life's post just goes to show the attitude that is prevalent though, even when you do the right thing.
  11. I don't care, give you a £5r for it??? What scope you got for it?
  12. never had a problem finding the bog yet while out shooting , cup of tes's good tho'
  13. Deker, what are you results with other ammo? I ask because I've just bought a new pair of rimmies the .22 I'm delighted with, 25 shot 1 inch groups @60 yds The hmr was giving slightly worse at the same range, but a change of 90 degrees to the target due to range gave nothing better than 5 shot 3" groups at 100 yds. I know I need a dead still day for the hmr, but.... Was using Hornady 17grain stuff, will try winchester next, (which is in exact contradiction to what I found with the .22)
  14. All mine attracted was Robins Fun to watch tho'
  15. My sentiments entirely. Seems a very good idea in theory, but sod the hassle, if you need 2 calibres, buy 2 guns. That said I've never heard a bad word said about the gun itself But there are alternatives
  16. Don't know who that was aimed at, just hope it wasn'r me Deker, whats you view on my last post?? I'm sure I recall my local gunny telling me that even if I had a mod allowed on the ticket but hadn't got it listed as in my possession, if I was caught using it I would be in breach of the regs. He stated he could sell me one on or off the ticket.
  17. Without taking sides here, surely it is not the item being sold that is the issue, that can be sold as is and for any purpose, but it's the use it will be put to that is the issue????? EG, if you have mod on a rimfire/centrefire that has not been sold and recorded on your ticket as such you prostrate yourself at her majesties??????
  18. hello all just thought I would show you the damage the winchester 17 grain bullet does to rooks at 90 yards. I have only had the rifle a few weeks after upgrading from .22. I am very impressed with it and with winchester ammo. I did buy 500 hundred horandy blue tips when i got the rifle but just cant get on with them I have also found a couple of the blue tips intact in hares that I have shot. Has any one else found this? I also couldnt get on very well zeroing the hornandy but could get the remy, winchester and the fedral all to shoot within a 2 inch target at 100yds of the bales but not in a
  19. There's always the safety aspect as well in any group situation, ie, the gun is never obviously safe, and did he put 2 in or 3 etc. Yeah you can get flags and stuff but not the same as a broken gun.
  20. And you're also less likely to damage the gun/zero setting. Don't think you can technically get done for it, but no point inviting trouble.
  21. The old guys I know refer to AAA shot as "fox shot"
  22. This can certainly do no harm, but club target work has little or nothing to do with walking around the countryside shooting vermin!! If you have the land and the reason then you do not need any club target shooting background!! totally agree, and can cloud the issue when you drop out of the club to take up your hunting preference.
