  1. No3 guns are still advertised new in Gunmart so can only asume you can get the shells. Haven't shot one of those for 40 odd years No3 gun are they the 9mm shotguns? if they are yes you can! there £11 for a box of 50! yes, there the ones, exerlent, i havent shot for years so looking forward to a day, personaly im not a big fan of them they just dont seem to have the stoping power for anything bigger than a mouse!!! unless your at point blank range!!! but have fun anyway mate!!! They were desigined for shooting "pests" in orchards. That includes squirells and bullfinche
  2. Thanks to all. Totally understand what you say Deker, some rabbits you can walk up to and could kick them to death, not just on a shoot but in public parks and on the highway, it's a very sad sight In my own situation I got access to a 2000acre area of land that had not been shot for years. It was farmed from afar. The new farmer, still a good friend, was besieged with them. I couldn't shoot enough. Most ferreted off, but when they werer down to manageable proportions Mixxy kicked in, resuly, no rabbits for 5 or 6 years? !0 years later there are only about a 1/4 of what existed before.

  4. Should be pretty safe, at least if it bursts it will blow upwards I couldn't use a gun in that state, every shot would have me cringing, having said that it's probably been shot like that for years. At the end of the day its your face on the breech. . . . . . . You need to get hold of another barrel
  5. Gun point actually, could invaldate proof?
  6. Stock should be easy mate, sand down to remove all the scratches/ dents then finish with your choice of oil or laquer. Oil will be best IMHO. Barrel is a bit of a bugger, had a similar issue recently myself, but removed the rubber grip from the sight and replaced it with a bit of inner tube. Filing the barrel for clearance? Probably just cosmetic tho'. live with it or car body filler and a bit of matt black spray
  7. Sorry if in wrong category but it's a Q for shooters, How has Mixxy affected your shoots? For example my local area seems to get hit when ever rabbit populations hit problem amounts, ie it seems self regulating. Goes from too many rabbits to nearly none then increases over the next 5 years. Another area I shoot always has some with mixxy, about 1 in 10. Never seem to reduce in numbers, and never gets to epidemic proportions? Comments?
  8. I bet in a years time you can't stand the stench of them let alone eat one, I had some shooting a few years back, 1 hrs rabbiting = 8 hrs skinning, not local but dam good. Nowadays one per trip out is the norm, (if you're lucky/good) Good luck
  9. No i have a woodland right near my house which is a working farm the scope was allready zeroed by my friend at the gun shop i was walking around just making sure where i can and cant shoot ( Backstop ) and it happend to pop out so i put one through it How is it hard to believe it's one rabbit. Apologies if thats the case mate, just that to get the gun out, get togged up, get to some shooting, find something to shoot, and do a full rewind takes me a fair bit more than an hour. At least you didn't say it tasted good Round here rabbits are getting that rare that if i'd got one I'd
  10. Don't lose credibility mate, just over an hour from posting last time that you'd got your gun and now, youv'e got your 1st rabbit, shot it in the hutch.? Keep it real. Cleaning kit from any gun shop or the net.
  11. And good luck from me too, to the poster that was offensive, this guy seems to have a very adult head on his shoulders, unlike you. Get to a clay shoot with others to learn how to shoot a gun, then with the aid of others get out on the land to realise why you shoot
  12. I have a soft spot for Rugers, (no, not a swamp in Florida), now on 2nd 77/22. That gun will probably be as good as you for sometime, nice. Please, just remember that that gun can kill as stone dead as a .44magnum, , take care out there mate, oh and enjoy
  13. Well, from my exploits this week they certainly seem to be so. And, if you need fox specificaly, not just the odd one , go with the FEO advice, I thinkanyone looking for a centre fire rifl
  14. The best, (as in the gun I liked shooing most, 'cos I was better with it), gun I ever had was a Laurona 30" multi choke O/U 12g Fit like a glove, and best of all had a unique trigger arrangement. Double trigger, but you didn't have to move from one trigger to the other for the 2nd shot. Front trigger fired top then bottom and the rear trigger would fire bottom then top. (Could have been the opposite way round, can't quite remember). Anyway I found it superb and so did all that tried it. Have to say again that you will not even appreciate what gun is untill you drop on one that does. Tr
  15. No, way less. keep the sg for airborn pests,
  16. How come all these pikeys got computers to reply on? You got mine lad? Am i predudice?, you bet I am. The last p***y that turned over our area got creamed by Tony Martin.
  17. This was the point that me and Deker, I think, were trying to make recomendations are one thing, the law is an other. Heres an example as it happened to me. I'd gone out shooting one winter afternoon. Parked the car in a layby of the farm track, about 30yds from the main road. I did what I always used to do when out and left the empty gun slip on the rear seat of the car in plain view. I thought this would encourage anyone who passed by to keep to the footpaths if they knew someone was out with a gun. Anyway got back to the car about 3 hrs later absolutely soaked through. Didn't want
  18. It's only my opinion but gunfit is the single most important factor when choosing a firearm. Would anyone dispute that? Nothing like shooting a real lightweight s/s tho', just make sure it suits you. From my exp they seem suited to the shorter shooter in general?
  19. I'm pretty sure it is, but it was so definate? Allways read about rifle/ammo combination but this is the 1st time for me that it has been this obvious.
  20. When looking vertical into a bright sky all I could see was the silluette of something with a little head and a big body. Knowing it wasn't billy bunter I thought it a fair shot??????????????
  21. Just been out today for the 1st serious session setting up my new .22 and scope. Shot it in and rough zeroed already so took 50 each win super X and eley subs for a proper set up after last times fiasco of loss of scope range. Gun is a Ruger 77/22, fancy laminated stock and all matt stainless action/barrel. Should have been more accurate than my last Ruger all weather. At 60 paces with the super X's the group was maybe 2" dia, acceptable as I'm not the best shot on the planet, BUT I was using a good bipod and leant against the fence. I was just a bit dissapointed and was about to c
  22. I've got something to add to this one. It happened a good few years ago. Was after a few bunnies and sat under a couple of larch trees. Fot those not in the know these are the only deciduous conifers in the UK. I was back up to to the trees which were on the edge of a long narrow wood, National Trust land, but I had it surrounded by permission. Anyway just sat there when little fir cones thast these trees produce where falling around me. Squirels I thought. Pointed the .22 straight up as the trees were hanging out of the wood and got a pheasant in the sight 30 ft up. Dead vertical shot so
  23. I'd kinda like to ask the same question as Deker here, just what laws are you guys quoting?? Discharging a weapon is one thing, being in legal possesion is an other.
  24. You must be kidding, mention gypsies, travellers, pikeys or whatever and they simply won't get off thier arses, no chance of a conviction so no chance of any input. Tell 'em the local curry house is on bogof and you may get a result
