  1. chalenge accepted with the dotting of the eyes Si. and i'll record it on my video camera.
  2. im talking about ariguns. because with airguns you have one pellet and its nearly impossible for a single pellet to find its mark for a clean kill on a moving target. shotguns have a huge spread of pellets so, 20x times the amount of air 1 pellet take up so it acceptable to shoot moving quarry, and even that is hard!
  3. well my best shot (rather rubbish compared to most of your stories) was a squirrel at 45yrds which was climbing head on toward me on a branch so i took the shot as it wsa running and the pellet not only penetrated its skull between its eyes but also obliterated its heart. stop it dead in its tracks. i have to say reading through some stories that some are'nt really respecting there quarry. i mean moving targets are only ok if there heading towards you, but ay other time there a huge no no as the risk of wounding is just to high. and extreme ranges increase risk of wounding hugely and it dosent
  4. not it hsan't there are plenty of sites which still have them, i have 2 myself and there great knives. opinels are god cheap knives too. also if your after a folding knife field and stream do really great knives for the money.
  5. i'm sorry, for me 16x mag does it for msot of my shooting. obviously in rat and ferl situatioins i crank it down to 6x. but really i like high mag. high mag dosent increase your wobbles, it just makes them mroe aparent, therefore making it easier for you to lessen them. also i do most of my shooting off a pod. it may jsut be me, but with good quality optics like mtc i dont see any difference in the brightness of the image unless the light is really fading in which case i'll turn it down qo 10 or 12.
  6. serves em right for vandalism!
  7. great mixed bag! top marks mate!
  8. hi all, i've cycled past a big pig farm many times and can't help but think how many rats there will be in there. i've tried hanging around the gate for a while but havent really seen anyone around although i know it active as you can hear the pigs and i often see different cars parked inside the gate. should i leave a note there on the gate as whoever owns the pig farm dosent have his house on the premisis (i think) which is unusual. i always prefer to talk face to face as leaving a note dosent give the same effect, especially since im 14 most people dismiss the note as a yob with a gun no m
  9. nice read that buddy. personally, i love the look and feel of the superten b-barell and would hope to have one one day.
  10. hi all, i'm currentyl looking for a game bag or sidebag which i can fit a days shooting gear in (pellets, small torch, mobile, scrim scarf, camera ect) plus at least 3 decent sized bunnies! preferably drab colour or camo. it also has to be under £20. it needs to have plenty of side pockets and a large inner pocket for game. any ideas? ATB Aaron.
  11. this guy is a loutish and irresponsible shooter. a wound is very easy with a pellet that small, and completely unsuitable for use on boar and hog, even when its travelling at over 1000fps (FAC rated here) he was very lucky not to have a 180lb angry lump of muscle and tusks maul him to death.
  12. Hi all, well this is a wrtie up about my pigeon shooting over ivy berries and crab apples with an airgun: My alarm beeped me awake at 6.00am and i looked outside to see that it was still very much night. I was planning to stake out an area where pigeons had been feeding on berries and crab apples in these tough winter months when there are very few crops around for them to feast on. After filling my flask with hot choclate (and my gun with air) i made my way over the short footpath up my garden (very BIG garden) i found a nice area with my back to a fence. I sat down on my bean bag and po
  13. im not into big heavy hikers for hunting. if im stalking rabbits or pigeons in good weather i wear a pair of old worn trainers which means i can feel for twigs and step lightly. if the weather is really bad i will wear hikers.
  14. welcome to the forum mate! and nice shot! how did you retrive the duck afterwards?
  15. hunting related things i got: padded super sling apg (VERY COMFY!!) hunting with air rifles by mat manning (best hunting book in my bookshelf) sony handycam (have already filmed a few shots on woodies which im editing now) swavorski lens cleaning pen
  16. i reckon this should be a pinned thread as its a great idea.
  17. i did this one last night it was great. you will need: whole pigeons (as many as you want) sesame seed or groundnut oil a knob of butter salt n pepper heat up a large pan until very hot with the oil and butter bubbling, brown the whole pigeons in it on every side. cover in more ol, butter ans seasoning and pop the pan in oven at 170c for 20 minutes (longer or shorter depending on how you like your meat, rare, well done ect) cover in foil and relax in a 130 oven for 10 minutes. lovely tender meat perfectly pink and rich.
  18. i'm of smaller stature and have used an s410 carbine and i have to say it would make manouverability in a hide or car much easier and also just makes it a nicer gun to handle for me.
  19. i only have air arms field 4.51 .177 and would trade 50 of my finest for equal of; 1.any hollowpoint as im keen in trying these out for short range stuff 2.jsb exacts, any variety 3.bisley magnums 4.h&n field target trophy PM me if your intrested edit: also i'll take any daystate pellets and webley mosquito. All pellets metioned above .177
  20. hi buddy, get a good quality springer mate. HW or Air arms make the best, but dont forget theoben springers and cometa as these are also good.
  21. try putting a lond wooden tunnel over your rat traps as this usually puts birds off round my way.
  22. i agree with buster mate, performance over looks anyday. that said the nikko gameking is a good scope. i would look at the hawke range as almost all hawkes are good value for money. your main needs for an airgun scope are; a mildot reticule, a magnification like 3-9, 4-12, 4-14 will be just right for about anything airgunning can throw at you. low mag like 4 for ferals and rats in barns and a high mag like 12 for open fields with rabbits. if you ever wish to take up HFT most people (as do i) use 10x mag. sr12 is a good scope. i wouldnt go with AGS as my mate said his fell apart and had poor q
  23. Decoys are only to encourage pigeons into thinking the field they're about to land in has lots of food in it and is safe. so theroeticly, you only need a pigeon to see another pigeon in a field for it to deem it safe. of course the more decoys you have the more chance you have of a pigeon spotting one. get out to the fields you want to shoot on. where are the flightlines (areas which pigeons fly over regurlarly)? when do te pigeons start, stop feeding? what are there favourite fields? find a good area with plenty of natural cover to build a hide. i think you should use this time to recce areas
  24. handycam padded sling michael mcintyre dvd terry pratchett books choclate thermos flask tried to settup scopecam, followed everything on davys turotrial and it keeps falling off and i've got a ring stuck on the scope which isnt great
  25. i have one on my s400. good but only to a certain extent. definatly useful on awkward standing and kneeling positions as it stops your head going at an angle. for bipod shooting and stable positions it dosent really make much difference tbh. i can't put it on the rifle most of the time now because of scopecam shooting.
