  1. nice shooting mate! those pics of you shooting out of that gap, was that in a hide? also can you eat the pigoens and pheasent as they look real tasty.
  2. before that story on the news i always though that foxes were pretty skittish and would never actually go into a house aas they stay very faraway from my porperty and try to avoid all human habitation where i live.
  3. nice writeup davy and i'd like to give you a point but i have to say if i was in your position i would have given that magpie a second shot as in my opinion that was still alive for a while after you shot it. i know there nerves go mental but the fact that it reacted to the second magpie being wounded leads me to believe that it was alive and just disabled.
  4. nice shooting! sounds like your really enjoying your 'new' gun.
  5. hi lads, another HFT target thread i just wanted to know what paint you use for the killzones and the main plate as all paints i've used before have either flaked off when struck or just deteriorate rapidly when beign shot at. i need a long lasting paint which will show the pellet impacts yet still retains colour as there is no yellow on my killzones any more so im finding it hard to see the killzone. ATB Aaron
  6. well its the shorter lenght im really wanting. 9.5cm may not seem a lot of difference but it can really help in a hide or car where a long gun can be troublesome.
  7. yes the stock is the same on both classic and carbine, it's just the action which differs.
  8. i once had 2 rats in one shot with and air rifle, i put a container full of corn about 12 yrds away from me and they were both perfecly lined up. the pellet went through the first ones neck and embededd itself into the second ones brain, both clean kills.
  9. yeah but would'nt it be easier just to swap the whole action?
  10. hi all, after a recent post on wanting a shorter lighter rifle than my s400 classic someone commented that i could just swap the classic action for a carbine action and keep the stock. does anyone have an s400 carbine and thinking of taking up HFT and want a longer heavier rifle for more steady standing shots or if you just want a higher shot count then please let me know as i woudld be happy to swap my classic action for your carbine action. also it has to be .177 ATB Aaron.
  11. i'm no expert but i shot my freinds walther cp99 and it was ridiculously fun for plinking. easy to operate and cheap.
  12. nice shooting phantom!do you eat the little ones?
  13. hi all, i really like my s400 classic and it's deadly accurate but having been doing more hide shooting and rabbit stalking lately i'm beginning to notice that its length and weight make it a bit of a drag. i have not got enough money yet but i would like to know what you guys think. i would like a rifle i ca easily carry in one hand. i have built up a criteria (If thats how you spell it) for this new rifle: 1. has to be alot shorter than my current rifle 2. has to a lot lighter than my current rifle 3. has to be a multishot PCP i dont like the bsa ultra's cocking or stock so thats out of
  14. we do that at the club i go to but amost everyone uses air arms field and superdomes.
  15. plave a piece of paper with a circle the size of a 1 pound coin at 20yrds and if you can get all the shot inside that area move up to 25 yrds and so on until you can't get all the shots in an area the size of a 1 pound coin.
  16. hmm smk ptics seem to lose zero quickly on spring rifles, espiecally heavy recoilling rifles like the lightning xl. i would recommend jsb scopes for value and hawke scope as well.
  17. the hw97k is a pretty heavy gun so you dont want to weigh it down with a big fat tactical scope. i would suggest an MTC mamba lite 3-12x44 as these have plenty of mag for spring gun hunting and a very lightweight. if your on a budget then as the chaps above have mentioned JSB make nice scope but not a shade on the quality of MTC's
  18. this looks good, pity you dont do them in .177. and aparantly fx pellets and air arms diablo field are the same pellet. if i were you i would put some JSB exacts and JSB heavies on there as these are another popualr brand of pellets.
  19. there are always different trends going in PCP's all the time. yet springers like the great hw77k have not really changed for 20 years. its partly what makes them so realiable.
  20. hi all, just to let anyone whos intrested know i've discovered a cracking little club in south wales with a pistol range, 70 knockdown targets and a zeroing range with targets out to 60 yrds. first day free and then you can pay year membership if you want. PM me for details. lots of freindly people there and plenty of advice. ATB Aaron.
  21. you dont shoot to the power range of your rifle, you shoot to the accuracy range of yourself. Don't litsen to anyone who says its fine for everyone to shoot to 50 yrds with an air rifle as the shooters range is decided by what range the shooter can confidently put all pellets in an area the size of a 1 pound coin. i should think with a spring gun like a supersport you should be able to get decent groups to about 35yrds tops. as for .177 v .22 if your only after rabbits then .177 would suit you as if you estimate the range of a rabbit wrong with a .177 it is much more forgiving than a .22 in te
  22. hi all, how many different size killzones are there in your standard hft course? ATB Aaron.
