  1. well done! what gun do you have under that load of camo!
  2. hi all, i was practicing this morning and thought i would do a few supported standing shots off a pine. after about several shots off this i was begginning to enjoy myself as i was knocking down targets to 35m. then i felt something sticky on my gun and to my horror i discovered honey-like sap all over my stock and scope. is there anyway of removing this? its really sticky. thanks, Aaron.
  3. i've seen them and tested them and i think they have no use. its very inaccurate on the single shot mode, and one the shotgun mode it is only really for plinking as your more likely to just wound a rabbits or any quarry for that matter wioth it thn kill it humanely. i knwo you want to bush with your dog but you really do need a shotgun for this as air rifles are precision tools for accurate headshots and the gamo shotgun has just go to wide a spread to be humane when the rabbit is sitting or running. the only thime i cxan think of it being usefull is very close range feral pigeon shooting as f
  4. i dont have any permissions with rabbits close to me so it ca be a pain to get my dad to take me there. my biggest bag is 3 but my biggest bag of pigeons is 11 though all had them roost shooting
  5. i've fed a squizzer to them before! i had shot one in the morning and was going to prepare it for the table once i got back from school but it was so stiff my dad axed it and fed it to the chooks!
  6. i dont know how it wroks either but i have a 2 reputaition with neutral label. is the higher number better or worse?
  7. s400k (carbine) is very ligh and accurate and i would highly recommend. although i have the classic and i'm of shorter build (i'm 13) and even though its a bit long i find it fine.
  8. with £500 you have a lot of choice. charging equipment will cost you £100 second hand. hw100k are very good. most people pick up th thumbole version as this is the most popular version and dont think of the sporter version. the thmbhole version didnt suit me as well as the sporter version which i really liked. air arms s400 or air arms s410 are good well known guns and the s400 is THE most accuratue gun i've evr used. 5p sized groups at 40yrds from a bipod.
  9. they fill the holes with a gas (think its methane) then the warrenator creastes a small spark which ingnites it...i think
  10. hmmm....if im doing rats around barns or ferals i know that 90% of my shots are going to be below 20yrds soi go down to 4x or 5x. i can easily check my zero at this mag and it will be not be too hard to correct. yet if i know i'm amubushing rabbits in a field, doing static hunting most of my shots are going to be 30yrds +. this is when i have it on 10x. so yes i do change my mag on different hunts.
  11. no im not. what do you mean by problems?
  12. sorry mate but shooting anything moving with a air rifle is a BIG no-no. even with gamos skeet airgun its not feesable as headshots only for any quarry. if i was you i would get your old gun back (air arms s400) as these are deadly accurate fantastic guns. or if you go down the springer route (no dive tank or pump recquired, but harder to ahcieve accuracy with) then a hw97k or hw77k is well within your price range. you simple cannot bolt rabbits to an airgun. airgunning i about stalking or ambushing quarry witch is staying still or feeding. if you try to shoot stuff on the move (even with gamo
  13. this is an age old discussion. people often go for .22 for hunting because it 'hits harder'. i dont quiite get this as if you put a pellet through your quarrys brain it will be dead whatever the calibre. the major difference between .177 and .22 is that a .22's trajectort#y is very loopy in comparison with a .177. basically this means (for example) if your zeroed at 30yrds (your pellet is hitting where you put the crosshair) then at 40yrds a .22 pellet may have dropped 2", way below your quarrys killzone (the brain), whereas a .177 will have dropped only 1" which might still be in your quarrys
  14. fo anything past 25m i use full 10x mag. i dont get why everyone keep stheir scope se on 6x. i find full mag really helps me get good shots on my quarry. under 25m i use 6x and under 15m i use 4x
  15. woah! What air rifle is that! looks like a bullpup design and unless the cylinder is in the stock then break barrel too.
  16. It is a generalisation and in a number of cases a 12ft lb is simply not up to the job...allowing for the margin of error to ensure a clean kill. Lets not get into a debate, but penetrating the wing feathers on a Pheasant is all but impossible with a 12ft lb, as with a Canada, the reasons can go on, even though we all know every air gunner only ever takes head shots!! ....and neck shots. headshots are the most humane. and i don't think a neck shot on a canada goose will go down well! take a look at this: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/html/sections/articles/shooting/ducks.
  17. well maybe i'll start puting a little scrim over my glass then! as i've said before i alway wrap scrim round my barrel and cylinder to take the glare off. when will ggun brands start thinking "hunting" and matte-ing the barrels and cylinders instead of blueing them (and yes i know bleuing looks pretty)
  18. intresing. my land owner has given me permission to shoot the odd stray pheasent on his land (as long as thre in season of course) but i have never though of shooting wildfowl.
  19. thats intresting gollum i alway wrap scrim around my rifle but ii always thought that rabbits and other quarry would be more wary of the human shape than of an object. i was reading an article in airgunner recntly and the writr said it was more important for your shape to be broken up and pink spots like your face and hands (which quarry asociate with humans) to be covered than your gun to covered up.
  20. hi, just this afternoon i was sitting down and a a couple of woodys landed above my head about 5ft whilst i was wearing this and i looked up to them and they didnt move off. its called sweidish m84 and its similar to flecktarn, just different colours. i had been looking for this in my size (im 13) for a while and was having a hard time. i then found it at the kelmarsh gamefair in my size and i was well chuffed. real nice jacket too.
  21. nice shooting mate! keeping with the recent camo or no camo topic, were you and your mates wearing any?
  22. call me a camo freak but i use this stuff and i can stalk within range of a woody if i keep my movements slow and it breask up your outline really wel: http://www.pbase.com/porkchop/image/44429815.jpg http://www.henrikc.dk/denmark_m84_pattern.gif
  23. i've seen these mate and jokes aside, they're barbaric. they injure moles and rabbits badly and cause great suffering.
