  1. no i'm going to do that tommorow i was just siting out waiting for something to come in.
  2. BREAKING NEWS i was hiding beneath some pines in my garden, waiting for something to come around. group of trees to my left about 40 yrds away and some telephone wire running over my head across my garden and a big blossoming cherry tree in the middle. it didnt take long before the 2 partners in crime arrived at a large ash. i was lining one up waiting for the wind to calm down so i could take a shot when 2 woodys landed on the telephone wires. now usually i dont shoot them this time of year but i could see the male was following the female and whooing her with big tail fans but she obviously
  3. i was out collecing the eggs from the poults this morning. i had a basket full of duck and chicken eggs and was walking back to the house when i realised that i had forgot to fill the chickens water. so i put down the basket of eggs and went up the garden on return from the pen i was horrified to see 2 magpies tucking into the eggs . i had only been gone 2 minutes! i had seen this pair before as they have been terrorizing the local blackbirds. i had noticed that i was finding some cracked eggshells in the ducks coop which up until now i had jsut trhought it was the ducks stepping on them. i s
  4. i had a freind with a tame jackdaw and as well as scraps of bacon it seemed to like muesli and buscuits very much. i would feed it little bits of meat and egg.
  5. the same as all the other MTCs mate, SCB reticle. at 10x mag its true mildot but i keep mine on 14x and its very good full of info.
  6. nice shooting! are the FX tins about the same size as the air arms tins! if so that bunny is tiny! do you eat kits?
  7. he sold is hw100, he only has good old air arms now. i wished i had enough money to buy it off him at the time.
  8. hi mate! many of davy's posts are very informative but if you want to keep your gun a little lighter you can always go fro the MTC mamba light which i have recently done a review on if you look in the 'rifle reviews' section. it has no illuminated reticle and no big sunshade which makes it lighter and cheaper. if you've got a good lamp you wont need illuminated reticle as you can still see the crosshairs when the beams on a rabbit. i have purchased a sniper systems 13"-27" bipod which allows me to shoot into trees from a rock solid kneeling position unlike the most common, 9"-13" and 6"-9" bip
  9. i find just stalking round a wood will catch them out. if they're on the ground then they'll often shoot up a tree whenn they see you and stop at the first 'V' to check you out. this is when you shoot them. although the littl buggers often go round the other side in which case you send your mate round. or just find an area where they are seen often and sit out. they're not too bright and if you spook one it won't be long before its back where you saw it last.
  10. thank you everyone! shay- he hates it! he's never liked hunting and he can't hit a barn door, no matter how many times i teach him the breathing techniques, stance .ect he usually sits at the gate with his laptop whilst i stalk round the field even though he should really be right at my shoulder.
  11. great shooting phantom but did the 2 rabbits have their heads lined up as (and sorry for being such a buzzkill) a bodyshot could have resulted in a wound . it was an excellent shot and i really must aplaud you but i can't help thinking "that second rabbit could have ran off wounded"
  12. hi all. my birthday today and my MTC Mamba lite 4-16x44 arrived safetly in the post today. I was impressed with the packaging and you could see from just opening the box that its a quality product. after removing the packaging i carefully read he insructions and then double checked them. NOT! i could'nt wait to get it on my rifle and test it out. as i was taking off my old scope i realised how light this scope was. judging by hand, it weighed the same than my old scope, a hawke reflex 3-10x44. this is suprising for quite a high mag scope like the mamba. the picture quality was very good, as c
  13. mate always go for headshots never inbetween the front legs. you rifle is easily accurate enoguh to do so. the fact that it took you 2 shots to kill a rabbit is'nt good.
  14. in my opinion, introducing any new thing in to the country is bad. look where the grey squirrel has got us...
  15. good shooting! where was the shot placement?
  16. you did the right thing. theres a lot of collared doves nesting at the moment and i have 2 pairs in my garden alone. i dont shoot them as i have no reason to. they dont damage the veg patch like the woodys and they are so tame you can walk right past them and they won't fly off.
  17. very well done alex! i'm not doubting your bird identifying skills but i think thats a normal buzzard although i may be wrong. there are buzzards EVERYWHERE where i am. if you look up at the sky at any one time 3 times out of ten there'll be a buzzard in it somewhere doing a big loop.
  18. nice shooting! i didnt know that spoons were on the pest list now
  19. i take a backpack with: a tin of pellets a knife some scrim rubberbands a couple of plastic bags a mobile and a camera a bipod some more scrim the rubber bands are to fix the scrim to the gun. scrim is so use usefull. edit-DAMN forgot my rifle
  20. the debate of .177 or .22 will go on for ever! people often go for .22 for 'stopping power' but since all airgunners should be taking headshots only i don't think this is neccasary. i'm a .177 guy because the .177 has a much flatter trajectory. basically this means, for example, if you have A) 2 identical rifles one being .177 and the other being .22 and B)you both have them zeroed at 30yrds (the pellet is hitting where you put the crosshairs at 30yrd). now you have a rabbit sitting 40yrds away from you BUT you think its 30 yrds away from you, you misjudge the range which i still do, then a .2
  21. uuhhh...mate unless you have a speical licence you can't shoot those. and even if you did you could only shoot them to protect crops, protect public health and safety and protect wildlife.
