  1. I don't think there's a great deal you can do mate, the problem is terriers being so little they can't see far so even if you encourage them the rabbit will be gone before they get near it. My son has got his to respond to hand signals to a degree, but like all terriers that I know it's hit and miss wether his dog will take much notice.
  2. Well pleased with the pup, fired a half dozen shots over him today and he never blinked.

    1. bird

      bird

great, don't think anything bothers him keep up the good work mate

  3. I see 2 rehomed lurchers that are pets regularly and both are in fine condition. walked for miles each day and loved to bits. But, and its a big but, neither are let off the lead when out, even along the canal where they could have a good gallup, because both owners are afraid they will chase something or run away. IMO it's fine to have a lurcher as a pet but the owner has a responsibility to train the dog so it can be trusted off the lead, any dog but especially a running dog that can't run can't have a full life. As I said both owners walk the dogs on a lead for miles each day, certainly fur
  4. How olds the pup mate? My pups 13 weeks now and has been out with me and the old dog for the last week or so. Mines gone from barely leaving my side to following the old dog 20 or 30 yards and then coming back in that time, it's natural if they are very young for them to be scared of being out in the big wide world alone and stay close to you. Also if it's very young it's not a good idea for it to be playing with an adult by chasing, if the dog hits the pup at full pelt by accident it will do some damage.
  5. Take a translator too, me and the missus used to have a ride out on the motorbike a few years ago and there were more eastern europeans than English people there,
  6. now is the time to be renewing, did you get the discount? Yes mate, thanks a lot for organising it too. As far as I can see the only difference between them and BASC is you don't get the posh newsletter, which was crap anyway imo. I phoned BASC last year to make sure lurchers were covered because the only reference I could see on their info was for gundogs. She had to go away and ask someone else before confirming they were, which I think just shows how far up the ladder we are to them. As I said the woman I spoke to gave me the impression that we wouldn't have to all join in Jan, just
  7. I joined a couple of weeks ago and the lady I spoke to said they would just run it fom the day I wanted, so no having to join until Jan then renew. Nice peole to talk to as well
  8. Might be advisable to alter your "location" mate, don't think many on here will take you out seeing that.
  9. For Gods sake dont tell him I posted that or I'll go on the death list like the others
  10. I'd somehow deleted a toolbar mate, I'll have to give young Arron a few tips then he wont need to ask to be deleted
  11. Sorted it, bloody computers will be the death of me yet
  12. I've somehow got rid of the buttons that let you go back and forward in the web browser and I'm f*****d if I can work out how to get them back, Anyone have an idea?
  13. Hows shooting it safer than ferreting?
  14. My dog caught a squirrel in the open on the canal bank a few weeks ago that jumped in to save itself. The thing was like a little power boat, much better than I expected and was on the other bank in no time.
  15. For me it's dead birds every time, though a couple of guys I know only use hyperflaps with great results. These guys are top shots though, much better than me, and tend to hit birds at much longer ranges. I need birds to come in closer and dead birds seem to help.
  16. I guess I'd think different if I had an aviary but I think they are fantasic things, I love to see them hunting.
  17. Got to agree there, I can't get my head round a dog being scared of the dark. Is he the same if you take him out for a walk round the block? It may just be me being daft but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be hard to get him used to it by taking him for short lead walks where there is a bit of light and praising him constantly. Then once he's steady with that try him in the field As far as lamping ability goes the dogs still a pup, give it some time and he may well come good for you mate.

    My Dog

    Classic mate
  19. I'm sure the reports of how bad it is over there are accurate, it just struck me that the reporters never seem to have any trouble with food and water, so maybe it would be an idea to send the food they take with them and leave anyone who couldn't actually help and all their equipment here . I presume every country sends similar numbers of reporters so ther must have been tens if not hundreds of tons of gear transported there in the first couple of days.
  20. It struck me this morning that there would be a hell of a lot more food and water for the poor sods over there if all the f**kin reporters and aid people got the hell away from the place. There must be thousands over there that don't need to be and I bet none of them are hard up for a drink or a decent meal.

    Lol

True or not it's funny as f**k
  22. I'm lucky (or unlucky if I think of the cost ) in that my missis is old school and does roast dinners 3 or 4 times a week, so theres always veg left for the dog. Unfortunately one or other of my grown up kids and their families always manages to invite themselves so my gas bill is through the roof.
  23. Only just spotted this mate, hope he heals up quick for you. Is the dog that bit Digger going to be around Clives land?
  24. Just lately it seems to me that 50% of the men on TV are bloody gay.
