  1. had a quick look at ebay for you, the only plastic one i found is a lot more posh then mine but it will give you an idea.. its more expensive, mine was a double and cost £15 and was white so you sould pop on some cammo tape if you wanted.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PROFESSIONAL-FERRET-BOX-PLASTIC-SINGLE-BOW-BACK-/200489178234?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2eae16147a hope this helps
  2. my first ferret box was plastic, two compartments and very decent strap, easy to clean just rinse under hose, had to keep an eye on the heat in summer but it was fantastic the only prob was it was white, i got it off ebay and i'm sure you can buy some cammo tape that you'd easily be able to stick on. i now have a one compartment green wooden one, which is fine for one ferret but i find the strap isn't anywhere near as good as the plastic one was, i'm after getting another for next season - very comfy to walk all day with.. have a look on ebay mate
  3. my jill isn't due til 19th but i wouldn't be surprised if they arrive early too, she's got a belly like a tennis ball which is getting bigger by the day and she's nesting every night, the last three mornings theres been very clear signs that she's been digging all her bedding into a ball with a hole in the middle, she's looking well, glossy fur tho is starting to line her nest now, bright eyed and is enjoying lying on her back in the run next to a bottle of water fresh from the freezer spoilt i know!! let me know how these kits get on xx
  4. personally i wouldn't introduce new ferret members until after the breeding season, means hormones can settle down, but then castrating should speed things up a bit though i'm unsure by how much . . feed wize try a beaten egg daily, it may be that he's too hot to eat a large meal, the egg will be a treat and give him protein, gives him something in his stomach, then try any scraps of meat, the turkey legs are good idea, i buy them for the dog from time to time, they cost approx £1.10 or there abouts off cuts from butcher, sausage meat anything that could be really interesting to him as
  5. good looking pup, let us know how you get on, make sure you update with pics be nice to see how he turns out lurcher lass x x x
  6. very nice buck there mate and of course its a sika, the antler shape is the clear difference, but tail is shorter on the sika then fallow and i believe theres something about the stripe is more clearer but i can't remember which this applies too but i do know they get a summer coat similar to the fallow.. pics below bucks in summer coat, first is sika second is fallow nice buck again and i agree keep the skin but make sure you enjoy the meat too all the very best lurcher lassc xx
  7. just seen the photo of bitch and the pup your keeping the dam looks like a lovely stamp of a dog
  8. how very nice to see a few good human beings still in this world ... i agree with dell, a chap who had lurchers for years and is looking to get back into one would be a good idea, low chance in the pup being passed about, and dell is right ask for something in return if you don't want cash, dog leads, disinfectant, dog food etc when i was re homing ferret kits i bred last year i didn't charge for them but swapped two jills for two jills, gave three two jills and a hob to a chicken farmer who kindly gave me two HUGE sacks of wood shavings,, which both cases suited me all the best mate and i
  9. jill is getting ready to drop :) i can't wait x

  10. i hate these bloody flies i've been cleaning their toilet areas twice daily, feeding their meat in the late evening just before it gets dark and cleaning any left overs out in the morning, feeding their beaten egg during the day whilest supervised, removing dishes afterwards, will be popping some dry food into the pregnant jills too so she can store some food to snack on between her egg and meat,, fly strips are a good idea, anyone got any others lurcher lass x x x

  12. theres a lot of them on here, tend to get their noses in most threads and ruin them too
  13. I KNOW!!! read it last night and couldn't belive my eyes on so many levels this is a stupid mating, it must have been an accident where they've decided to try and make a few bob the sire looks like a right lump my 13 year old terrier bitch could move quicker them him and probably has better fitness also the size of the dog put over the bitch i'm amazed the dam didn't struggle having the pups, as the sire is so much bigger then her and to charge any kind of money for a accidental mating of useless pups is cheeky but to charge £850 is just wrong!! the countryman's is a di

  19. i like foxes, i respect them as a quarry and an interesting mammal, it was good to see the video footage of their behaviour and habits, i used to see them walk along a fence like any household moggy,, without the fox a lot of other wildlife wouldn't be in check and we wouldn't have the hounds, terriers and lurchers we have today. i completly agree that urban foxes are in the same box as pigeons and rats, they need to be very much controlled and to be honest kept at distance,, the country fox i view in a different way, for he is far more intelligent and it would be fantastic to save this anim
  20. i think my bitch looks like yours just smooth coated lol their looking good at mo like i say the dog pup has started to shape up nicely now at last! though they are both a bit fatty at mo being walked but not working, i'm just keeping them well trained, well fed and exercised come winter i'll really start testing them my bitch only came in season today dell so a little bit behind yours xx
  21. i know of a rspca branch local to where i grew up, gathered up 35 urban foxes, either trapped for pest control or recovered from injury or poison etc, loaded these 35 URBAN foxes ie foxes that only know how to scavange all with their own territorys and loaded these foxes into a single van drove out to somerset and released all 35 in one site then drove home and got a pack on the back its the state of the urban thinking,, they don't take a minute to think of how these foxes will survive after not knowing how to hunt, their almost certain going to be hitting the first poultry shed they fin
