  1. everybody over here in belfast seems 2 have a bull cross of some sort y is this iv did my reserch on inet (nerd) and it says the best lurcher cross is str8 half cross between deerhound and greyhound buh ive rarely seen 1? (brawn) lol Anyone who claims to be able to tell you what the 'best' lurcher cross is. . . . . is a total f*****g moron. very true, different types of dogs suit different people and quarry and running ground
  2. yes [bANNED TEXT] ino my friend got a deer hound cross and the dog was completey uselsss..fanx [bANNED TEXT] nothing wrong with deerhound crosses as a type you just need to know what blood is in them so you don't get shite - like any other type of dog, you also need to be patient due to develpment let them grow into their legs etc i have a deerhound cross and i'm more then happy with her, grand dog
  3. stupid stupid people in this world x

  4. people above have already said what i think in regards to the need for a lurcher to be a pro ferreter,, i know someone who happily used a collie and a pest controler who uses terriers, but some perfer to use only nets, quieter and less obvious to public and some places are unsafe for a dog
  5. i agree with keeping the dog after it broke its leg and giving it time to heal, i done the same with my adult working bitch,, the parts i don't understand is why would you have an injured pup and breed from first season?? not only did you have no idea at all in regards to the dam's possible working ability but you risked further damadge to the leg due to the weight of the pups, pleased to hear dam and pup are well and are now being shown the ropes, personally i would have done things differently lurcher lass x
  6. a good bitch always has a long list of past injuries,, nice to read be good to see some photos of dogs, i'd like to have a look at them thanks again xxx
  7. RIP dad, died fours years ago today, yet feels just like yesterday

  8. has a ferret kit asleep in me lap :)

  9. very nice to see the pics!! good to see good ferreting pics and looks like ye had a giggle too, i can't wait to get back out,, waiting for jill to get her shape and fitness back after having kits then we'll be flying again! keep on with the pics xxx
  10. nice looking dogs there, let the dogs come on by themselves, don't be too quick to test them, some dogs are running well at 10 months others take 20 months or longer, depends on the dog, patience and fitness you give them that they'll pay you back
  11. i like whippet crosses but a bull whippet isn't a cross i'd choose but its each to their own.. perhaps a whippet/grey x bull grey at the very least but a bull whippet isn't going to any better then a 1/4 bull greyhound if you dont want a half cross, but thats just my opinion, as long as your happy with your own dog who cares
  12. would it be worth emailing him or would i be wasting my time? i couldn't find him but i'm certain the name was john's pocket rocket
  13. lovely looking pups there, if i needed another dog i would snap them right up, really like the stamp of the sire and the bitch looks decent too, nice healthy pups which sometimes seems rare on this site, all the best with them
  14. hiya thanks for the help found this http://thewhippetarchives.net/details.php?id=8861&gens=5 i am missing the bitch mated to lord of the knight to get my bitch's sire, thank you for the help x
  15. hiya i'm surprised to be the first person replying to you firstly what a nice find! being that the dog is a ferreting dog and daytime moocher will mean not only does he have chasing instinct and prey drive, i would say get the dog used to you, get a good bonding going, take him out ferreting etc, make sure he's happy to retrieve bunny to you, then simply go out for a shine, have him on slip lead, give him easy slips to start with i.e bunny's out in the field and away from hedgeline, make sure the dog sees the rabbit, even if it means keeping him on slip for half a second longer for
  16. sorry here's the link http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/126439-out-lamping-friday/page__p__1301669__hl__%2Bjazz+%2Bbroken+%2Bleg__fromsearch__1#entry1301669
  17. hiya my bitch broke her leg last october, as my partner has already said, nothing prepares you and i was calm when she actually done it but i reacted afterwards when she left at vets i felt awfull, not only do you panic about the dog but you worry about future work, in all honesty i thought the leg would have to be removed and she would be written off and only be keeping sofa warm and me company, though i wouldn't ever re home her for any reason but it would have been such a shame to lose her as a working dog, i lost the season with her, which wasn't such a bad thing as it meant i had no
  18. thanks for taking the time to read this, would it not be one the list because he wasn't kennel club registetred, - excuse the spelling! i don't know anything about that sort of thing, it mostly doesn't interest me but i fancy putting a folder together about my bitch, include the pedigree, photos, puppy mischief and stories of hunting and times out mooching.. just something to look back on of a dog i'm proud of, may not be everyone's cup of tea but i'm chuffed to bits and thats all that matters be brilliant to get the sire and dam thank you xx
  19. p.s i have seen the pics on his site though sadly he's changed the site from the pics he used to have, and i'd like to know who the parents were to jake the pedigree would look a little sorry for itself if i only my bitch her parents and thats it xxx
  20. i know its pointless as it doesn't effect me or my dogs working ability - which i'm very happy with, i'm just curious to have it on record to look back on, i'm sentimental like that she is a grand little bitch thank you fordie it would be nice to see pics of your pup, its not a cross you see very often all the best lurcher lass x x x
