  2. Got a loan of it years ago and it is a very good read.
  3. Denys James Watkins-Pitchford was a British naturalist and a childrens author who wrote under the name BB. If you go on Ebay RH and type in books by BB, many 1st editions are commanding high prices. Hope that helps mate? ATB My favourite author of all time.He wrote several children's book but always incorporated fieldsports into them. He also wrote for a long time for The Shooting Times and they still reprint his articles regularly. His wildfowling articles are unsurpassed IMO. You can feel the breeze in your face and smell the salt when you read them. I've 8 or 9 of his books. His ma

  5. Down the bright stream is a BB classic and IMO should be made compulsory in schools, LOL. Better than any Shakespeare.
  6. A few early mornings with not a sniff or a scat. Tracks in the dew on the grass were not from foxes. Plus, all the rabbits around with RHD but no signs of their remains but signs of lambs beside the setts. No fox sign around the setts either. Farmer has moved them nearer the yard away from the setts with no problem. But now has a grey crow problem so that's a trap up there in the next few days.

  8. Could be old brock doing the killing ,wouldnt be the first . You were right.
  9. Personally I couldn't give a f**k but when P3d and Corkman are making their little underhanded snide remarks then I'll let fly. They need to be doubled up. Personally I'll go at it single handed. They asked for it, I didn't disappoint them.
  10. Nah, give the pedigrees a skip for now The real sled dogs look nothing like huskies, rough looking harrier / collie crossbred types. But they can travel great distances. The real sled dogs ARE the huskies. Husky being an Inuit word for local village dog. There is no breed, as such, as a Husky. What you meant are the Spitz and Malamutes etc. They mustn't have explained this too well in the show. Cooney the clown trying to get another post deleted. Cooney being an inuit word for local village idiot If you read my post I said "Huskies AND Sled dogs" Sled dogs are w
  11. I'm not sure what you mean. No body said that the village dog has become pure. You're putting words in my mouth. I'll try and explain my post as simple as possible. There is no breed of dog called a Husky. Husky is a native Inuit word for a village cur. OK ? The breeds of dogs known as Spitz and Malamute's are Kennel Club recognized but are not what Mushers use nowadays .OK ? The dogs used nowadays by Mushers are usually crossbreeds with Collie and Pointer amongst others in their make up. OK ? You're obviously looking to start an arguement with me just because I pointed out P3d's rookie

  13. If a documentary I seen last year made by hunters is to be believed Malta has really clamped down on illegal hunting and bag limits and licenses are strictly enforced. The Maltese have a very strong tradition of hunting in their blood and most would want to keep their guns and right to hunt. So the last thing the authorities want over there is a Pom telling them what to do and hopefully they'll throw the book at him.
  14. Personally I prefer to remember mine alive. There's something morbid about that photo and not something that would help terrierwork, but then again someone who'd take such a pic probably doesn't care about terrierwork. Very weird.
  15. Yep, Labs can be firey. A friend used to use one for drawing and statistically they cause more people to go to A + E than any other breed, or at least they used to. But I only used the Labrador as an example for those who say that if a terrier has a smooth coat and large head it's a bull cross. This statement nearly always is made through jealousy.by folk who don't keep fell terriers but seem to feel the need to find something wrong with their bloodlines. It would fit them better to pay attention to their own blood lines and they mightn't be in the trouble they're in. Who cares if there's
  16. Very nice General, they aint going to be small. I see the good start they got in life has been carried on.
  17. So with that way of thinking when in your opinion would you say bull blood was introduced to the labrador ? I've always considered some labs to have a bull look about them. I doubt that it is actually in them though Not even kidding It has to be in them. The experts on here who know everyones breeding are telling us that if it looks bully then it's a bull mongeral. Smooth coat, big head, it's a bull cross. The Lab even comes Buckskin, Black and Chocolate, it has to be a bull cross. Maybe the Chocolate is where the Chocolate came from in the black terriers. Maybe old Fell breeders u
  18. So with that way of thinking when in your opinion would you say bull blood was introduced to the labrador ?lol no bull in yours Neil is there ?? There probably is. But it hasn't been put in by me or the lads who've had them before me as long as they've had them, or else I would have seen it the pedigrees they've entrusted me with. That's one of the perks of dealing with good honest lads who trust me enough to give blood to. How about you ? But we've gone of the question I asked you and didn't answer. The Labrador has a smooth coat, large teeth, a large head, the same ear and tail

  20. Is that a photo of a dead terrier ??? Why ?
  21. between September and March or March n September. Between Sept. and March. It's mostly to do with deer poaching. It's the same old same old. A few ruining it for everyone.
  22. My bad, I just realized you meant thermal imaging Foxdropper. I thought you meant thermal under wear. No, I wont be going down the thermal route. Hunting or underwear, LOL.
