Yep, worthy of any book collection but written by many contributors and not just Mr Harcombe.

I had that idea once to have all my pens moveable so I could have them on fresh grass all the time. But the fox loves pens that are just sitting on top of the sod and unless they're very well made they'll become loose and ramshackle with constant picking up and carrying. For game fowl that will be kept seperate to one another you'll use a lot less timber by making a bank of fly pens. So plan carefully and build well.

According to the fishermen on the programme and what we've seen with our own two eyes the cod is not under the pressure we're led to believe.

A fellow I know was in the same prediciment so he smuggled in a specimen of his wifes urine. He passed too and the inspector said "congratulations, your 3 months pregnant". True, I swear.

LMAO, so I wont be starting my anti-scruffing campaign then. I think a lot of you lads should read posts properly,

It's quiet easy to wind some on here up and fun too. Firstly it's great to see respect being shown to quarry, wether it's a quick kill or a release. Secondly it's great to see a white terrier doing the biz and keeping her owner happy. That's what it's all about. I just think the picture could have shown the terrier better and the remark about keeping his coat clean was tounge in cheek. No harm meant.

It's a forum, hence disscussion and debating one own personal veiws is what it's about. Ok from now on I'll fit in with the crowd and say "nice pic, well done". If you want to be man enough to boast about your digging then be man enough to take critisism. And why would you hold a terrier upsidedown for a photo??? That would be silly.
-
Just thought that if the terrier's as good as they say then I thought that it might deserve to be held with a bit of dignity for a photo, that's all. Obviuosly not. As for scruffing terriers? We tend to take them out by the back legs.

thats was from a while ago that pic just thort ide put it on to try and show how small the little bitch is, dontthink hes harming dog to much is he mate? only young lad getting his pic taken with his dog, think ur being abit piccy with that comment I would disagree.

One of the bonus's of digging is that we can lift our quarry and decide wether to let it run for another day or put it down. But looking at that second photo, is that your quarry? If that's the terrier you've had most of your game with I would've thought it deserves a bit of respect, or is that young lad afraid to get his coat dirty?

can a bushing dog be used as a digging dog

thats a brave statment neil but one i agree fully with some people wont agree but as long as terrier is fit who cares i have never once dug to a rabbit with a digging dog but it can happen with any terrier i think the worse thing for a terrier is being left in its kennel mack Macker believe me I've dug to terriers working rabbits in the past. But I'm a believer in that when a terrier gets to know it's proper quarry it will not bother wasting time on rabbits to ground. Pups ran on with good honest workers will learn to ignore them too. But while going through cover a terrier will put ou -
PHILIP KING IN CO CAVAN, IRELAND HAD A WORKING WHEATEN DOG CALLED RAMBO BACK IN THE `S Seen him, a big type and he must have been a good one or he wouldn't have been there. Wasn't he the dog with the ingrown eyelashes?

I couldn't think of a better way of keeping a working terrier fit for digging than a bit of bushing. The secret is to know your ground. All my terriers see rabbits on a daily basis and none of them will mark to ground. -
I don't believe in dragging my politics out in public but those of you who support Sinn Fein be carefull. Wether you like it or not Sinn Fein have always had an anti-hunting agenda.

Personaly I believe Bertie brought the country to it's knees (and took the Greens into Government) but Biffo kept it there. Hopefully his party members will vote him out on Tuesday.

Brilliant. Worthy of a frame.

Foxhound x greyhound anyone got one?
neil cooney replied to stroller's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Your entitled to your opinion, mind you name calling isn't really fighting your corner, is it. All I was saying is that to call the foxhound as a breed braindead is a stupid statement and that I find it hard to take someone seriously when they state that a poodle mongeral is their best worker, thats all. Oh, and an arse is a usefull thing, probably more usefull than a poodle. -
For once this really is a television campaigne thats worth fighting for. Sickening to see all those healthy ,fine fish dumped. Did anyone see the fishery minister being asked to identify the fish species, failed badly.

Fionn, That goes for any dog that is in more than a few pedigrees. Smasher, I don't think so but there is a couple of lads down there that like the blood. LOL, the Cork boys love their white terriers and who can blame them, there as good as any.

An interesting subject that I'm supprised doesn't come up more often. Personally I've met 3 different men who claim to have been the first to bring black terriers to Ireland, all in the late 70s. Although the lakeland type was here before that. Smasher, the terrier, Nigger, ended up in T.P.s yard when his working days were over and was put across anything that resembled a bitch. BUT, he was a very good producer and those who seen him work (T.P. never seen him work) said he was brilliant worker, silent and hard. Out of him came a dog that was never worked and because he had a very scarred nos

A good post from Skycat. As for vets ? There was a time they'd advise you to do the right thing by your dog but nowadays I get the impression that there's more money to be made out of a living suffering dog than a dead one.

Yep, when someones makes a statement that most foxhounds are braindead and that their favourite hunting dog is a poodle cross mongeral I think that speaks volumes. JMHO. -

And that coming from a man who confesses to owning a ladrador poodle mongeral. You obviously have no experiences of Foxhounds. -
LOL, Your right Stuntman and it doesn't have to be for money either, sometimes ones ego being boosted is enough. Every gunclub in Ireland tends to have a heaviest pheasant and longest tail competition on the opening day every year. I remember years ago a fellow sticking a pump down a birds neck and filling it with water. Then he blocked the throat with cotton wool. He won a little cup that he could keep for a year. It shouldn't be long 'till we hear of a 50lb red fox especially now as the tabloids are causing a bit of hype. Lock up your children.
