  1. are you furkin mad,lol....if you like geting raped at every turn,go for it.the government are liars and thieves, the weather is shit, and in general the place is in the shit.....................but if you have money and dont mind paying tripple for everything then its a great place.stay away from mid east, you'll be too close to Dublin, full of chancers ...stay away from west, its barren and full of sheep.stay away from limerick as its a ticking time bomb, lol the only place to live is southern ireland, lots of sporting gentlemen and kind folk. But all in all Id be inclined to stay away from here
  2. Czarina was the bitch with the fighting dog blood in her that was used to improve the greyhound, not the lurcher. Down from her came Fullerton , which is claimed, every greyhound alive today is descended from. IMO here in Ireland before the Saluki became popular the cross that the most successful lads used was either the hound (beagle, foxhound etc.) cross or the Irish terrier cross.
  3. Absolutely nothing to be proud of in that photograph and it shows IMO someone who can't train a dog. Any cur will hang out of a sheep and when that cur has help, it thinks "happy days". And an electric collar is not the easiest or best way to stock break a dog. It means you've failed as a trainer and is an alternative to the bullet. The most efficient way to stock break a strong willed dog such as a working terrier is to give a sharp "NO" to the dog every time it does something you don't want it to do, ie. barking, chewing a kennel, jumping up on people and then in the field when it show's
  4. Hopefully I'll die in my sleep just like my grandfather did, and not screaming like his passengers.
  5. He got bitten , so what, goes with the job. But what about the holding the fox while posing and talking to the camera while the fox is obviously distressed . If a terrier had of been used it would have been "terrier removed" "fox dispatched or fox released".
  6. Best of luck with him, but you should do your homework first. That goes for any one who buys a second hand dog.
  7. I knew of a pub belonging to a Paddy Ennis. Over the door in big letters it said "P. ENNIS."
  8. I was at a very very sad funeral years ago when there wasn't a dry eye in the church. As the poor mans brothers put the coffin on their shoulders to carry him out the priest put a song on the speakers "He aint heavy, he's my brother". I seen several people giggle. After that I always thought a great song for a funeral would be "staying alive" by the Bee Gees or Johnny Cashes version of "Hurt". As for a headstone ???? Any self respecting terrierman would have "Gone to ground" on his headstone and of course "gone to ground" blown on the day.
  9. Yeh General, heard it all before and then the "dead" terrier pops up a year or two later. I'd want to see the dead terrier and then I'd shove it down the b*****ds throat. Personally IMO there's something not right about this story.
  10. Sadly this is journalism at it's very worse. If you took all the sensationalism out of the report it's a report of fox control properly carried out within the law. The hunt would be within their right to seek an apology as the reporter says they dug into a badger sett, which is illegal. But the farmer states that they dug into an old badger sett, which is completely legal. Just goes to show you that even if your 100% within the law with your terrierwork it's worth taking the time to have a look around for scum who might film you and cause this sort of sensationalism. As for 3 children
  11. I'd be wanting to see the body of my terrier if that happened to one of mine to make sure the terrier wasn't picked up and took.
  12. If by chance that terrier was picked up by or given to the wrong sort of person then it might have it's coat clipped short by now. Don't give up, he might have got stuck under ground and might get himself out yet. If he does he might head to the nearest homes. If they already have your number they should let you know.
  13. Could be Waz, I read the CMW but refuse to read his articles so maybe he said that. Mind you, the CMW has improved recently. Nice to see some articles nowadays in it about what a terrier should be doing under the sod.
  14. No secret, he regularly knocks terrier work in his writtings even though he now lives in France where terrier work has rules and regulations.
  15. Just goes to show what some people will do for money. The author of that particular book is openly Anti-terrierwork.
  16. Little tip, have a clove or two of garlic in their drinking water.
  17. some people show working dogs Stig, can I add to that that "lots of people show working dogs".
  18. The advice I'd give to any beginner is to prove to a knowledgeable and active terrierman that your trustworthy. Tag along with him and keep your mouth shut and your ears open. In failing that if I was to suggest a book then Eddie Chapmans first book "The Working Jack Russell Terrier" is a book full of hands on experience.
  19. The history books tell us that traditionally the first lurchers were used for driving stock and catching fur and feather . Some will argue this though.
  20. LOL...... I find it worrying that you find that funny ?
  21. Not really Stop End. I think your post is some sort of a bitchy attack on me rather doing something about the problem. Any references I've made about individuals being harassed were made because I've spoken to terriermen from the North. You should try it.
  22. Isn't Frankle double bred on Danehill Dancer ? And the mother of the new foal is a daughter of Danehill Dancer. Just goes to show you how important line breeding is in the thoroughbred industry.
  23. Whitefeet the likes of your post is part of the problem. Lads are being stopped and intimidated by police who themselves are not fully aware of the law. But your post proves that a lot of hunting folk don't know the law either, nor do they know their rights. The hunting act that was brought in in England and Wales doesn't apply to N.I. Badgers have been fully protected at this stage in all of the UK and Ireland for over 30 years now. The Hunting Act might be over turned but the Badger Acts never. It's legal in all of the UK and Ireland to work fox with a terrier (provided the guideline
