  1. I can see both sides of the argument. Been there, done that. In my previous posts on the subject I tried to explain what would happen to cubs if a vixen should get killed by, for example, a road accident. But now there's lads debating the ins and outs of letting foxes out of a dig. Something which in certain circumstances can be illegal. Shouldn't be discussed on the WWW IMO.
  2. Even though he quotes the Bible in that speech I'm pretty certain he was an Atheist. He once said that with a little bit of common sense it's easy to prove there's no God.
  3. Just to add, it's also been known for two litters to be raised together by both vixens, aunts and the dog foxes. Let's face it, we're talking about one of the ultimate survivors here. If he wasn't he'd be extinct by now, LOL. But the terrier is the only means we have of solving the problem by removing the predator and the reason for the predation when there is a problem.
  4. JMHO but at this time of the year the only sensible form of fox control is the terrier and that should only be when a fox needs controlling. But it has been proven that if the mother of a litter does get killed , for example, on the road etc. that the dog fox or barren vixens or both will raise the litter.
  5. I think you'll find that working greyhounds are very common and if they're from Ireland then they're Irish working greyhounds. Mind you, those photos only show a greyhound.
  6. In the last 10 or 12 years here in Ireland the Pine Martin has spread to every county and is now being seen in towns. There have been road kills in many large towns. The spread of forestry has probably been the biggest factor but there have been rumours of introductions. If a survey was done now in Eire IMO it would tell (not that the Wildlife Service would listen) that the Pine Marten is not wanted. It has made poultry keeping and game rearing impractical in many areas and has to have a big impact of all bird life. I know of one poultry keeper who thinking he was trapping mink around his
  7. Far from it but why even discuss it on the WWW ?????
  8. 100s and would you like some pictures. Gorier the better I presume ?????
  9. Nice to see that. Surprised by the music too, louder than I expected. What pack ?
  10. No, my sister has eaten dog when she was a teacher in Korea and didn't like it. She also said the restaurant, while spotless, smelt like my kennels back home. But I haven't heard anyone complaining about the food that's coming out of a place nearby, mind you, they do sell more rabbit than fox. Also Jigsaw, ye bollox, how would I know where there's any stolen dogs going ?
  11. So tell us the secret ? What fly have you been catching all these early season trout on ?
  12. Would you like to have a little bet on that ?
  13. If the ££££££££££££££s were taken out of every single aspect of the dog world what sort of a state would it be in ?
  14. Dan I think you'll find that the States is wrapped up in a lot more laws regarding what, where and when you's can hunt than the UK or Ireland. The attitude in the States of Kill Em All has resulted in this and you's also get lot stiffer prison sentences and fines etc. for breaking your laws.
  15. I would think there's a hell of a lot of folk in my village that have eaten fox meat thanks to one of our local eating establishments.
  16. Thanks Phil, I didn't want to suggest that the dog wasn't steady or indeed the net was rotten. Makes sense now. Keep them coming.
  17. Phil that is a fantastic photo but don't take my question as an insult. But is that lurcher after busting through that net ? If it did, fair play, LOL.
  18. Nice. Is that sand you boys were digging in ?? I dread the stuff.
