  1. Well done the men of their words. But it's a school night so put them away and get out the school books, LOL, some chance of that.
  2. I'm slowly beginning to believe this global warming malarkey. Winter migrants such as Fieldfares and Redstarts only arriving now, seen a Hedgehog yesterday, corn already 6 inches high, cattle still out and yet plenty of Snipe and Woodcock in already. Funny unhealthy weather.
  3. It's on again same time next week as far as I know. Put it on reminder.
  4. Zerky another factor to remember is them men that are out stealing digs to quarry that is dug once and shot,i seen this with plenty of lads, they had great dogs with 30 digs on them but couldnt dig educated game,il use the trials as an example, game was dug then worked with heavy dogs,so they know full well what a dog is and it was a whole different ball game digging them to teddy bears, different bsll game. 100%. Good game = good terriers.
  5. Big deal, they're always lurking and no matter how tight you make security there's not a single member on this site who's as good on a computer as the experts employed by the authorities. So the secret is don't break the law with your dogs and if you accidentally do, don't come on here getting yourself and hunting in trouble. Leave all that up to the goons on FaceBook. Edited to say, my post was not aimed at yours Alcapone but at those who're worried about the anti's reading our posts.
  6. From what I've seen on the net, telly etc. and read in books some pig hunters around the world don't want too game a dog such as a pure pit bull as they don't last too long, hence the reason some hunters have great success with curs which will aim for their hold instead of holding the first thing they see. Didn't Reg Carr once say that the best pig dog he ever had was a boxer X labrador. This in theory should make no sense whatsoever if gameness is the name of the game. SO, if a dog for pigs needs a bit of gameness combined with some self preservation then the proper, well bred working wheat
  7. Not to unlike some country over here that foxes will lie out in but different animals different country. I thought Spain was all sand, sun and boobs, LOL, now you say foxes go to ground easily. Sounds like heaven to me, LOL.
  8. I suppose in desert like areas that the fox would go underground to escape the hot sun ? If so, that's handy.
  9. Well done Aitor. Was the ground as hard as it looks and do Spanish foxes normally be under ground ? Even in good weather ?
  10. They look like a very handy size of hound for that job. Very nice.
  11. LOL, what's this got to with me, LOL. Personally I call white terriers white terriers, I call all the fell types fell types and I don't give a shit about borders, plummers ,bedlingtons etc. as 9 times out of 10 they're owned by dreamers. What's most important to me regarding terrier types is the name of the breeder not the name of the breed. It means nothing to me as I once bred a litter with blacks, black and tans and reds in it. I know of two lines of white terriers that come from black dogs and I know of two lines of blue terriers that are down of black and tans. And yes their is such a
  12. Just an observation on threads like this. You could discuss all day which dog is more suitable to put over a greyhound ie. a bulldog or a patterdale terrier (two breeds IMO where there's more curs than not) but not a word about the greyhound ?? Fact is that most greyhounds are curs too but most lads breed from the first one they get which 9 times out of 10 is somebody else's reject. Yet, when the pups don't make the grade the terrier type or the Saluki or the Collie get the blame. JMHO.
  13. Tell her that the difference is that hares are usually given law (a head start) when a dog is slipped by a human and that hunting dogs are not used in the hares breeding season whereas wolves give no law and hunt all year round. The hare herself doesn't care one way or the other whether she's being hunted by a pack of wolves, a pack of hounds or a running dog, all she wants is to survive and if she is caught in all those situations the death is more or less the same, unless it's a soft mouthed lurcher. Then when you've impressed her with all these facts make your move.
  14. It's impossible to breed of a dead game dog anyways.
  15. And the lad I was shooting with went back out after dinner for an hour and put up 2 more. That's more than usual for around here.
  16. I can see you getting 100s of Likes for that photo. There's some very weird dudes on here.
  17. Not sure why the big interest in me but to answer your question I bolted a brace last Thursday morning from under an old house. I also had a fried egg sandwich when I got home.
  18. Put 4 up this morning in 3 hours. I can safely say I've never seen 4 woodcock in a mornings shooting around here so early in the season. Put 1 up the opening morning last week so compared to other years they're early.
  19. LOL, Not true. Nor am I pill popper. With friends like mine, who needs enemies ? LOL.
  20. And when I'm on the pills I think I'm Superman, LOL.
  21. When I seen the Lakeland thread on here she was the first terrier I thought of. R.I.P. and she threw a few good 'uns too.
  22. Condolences to the lady's family. I'm all for freedom of speech but when a hunting person dies and the anti's show their true colours through the cowards way, social media , then IMO it should be a crime similar to assualt. Six months wouldn't be long enough IMO.
  23. I always leave my terrier off the lead when trying a place.often seen it pass a well used entrance and squeeze up a tight dead entrance and up to the quarry. As said it would be ideal if all terriers travelled empty earths to check them fully but imo some terriers just won't. Hopefully when I'm out and about I don't leave much game behind me but ud never know ☺ keedy sounds like a very useful terrier to have.bet she has proved a good few other terriers wrong!! You and I are on the same wave length. I was out for a couple of hours yesterday. Checked a few places with a terrier running loose
