  1. They're doing interesting things with horses at the minute based on labwork jim bolgers company equinome?-hes having worse results since he started it..one of the best ever greyhound litters in ireland(split the bill x lizzie fitz)-8out of 10 in the first litter broke 28.-including ardfert billy who i think still has the fastest 550yds time in ireland..i think she was put back to the same dog 3 or 4 more times and they were all shite...the modern science of epigenetics is proving some old wives tales true Thank you TinyTiger, Like I said before, the lads I first heard coming up with the r
  2. anything goes agin coursing clubs surely is a good news story for us lurchermen here in ireland, Whatever floats your boat.
  3. You right and that's what I should have said, LOL.
  4. Foxbolter, a LOL, at the end of your post wouldn't hurt or some fool might believe you, LOL.
  5. I was talking to a well known coursing greyhound man this morning and he tell's me the sad news that they're now going to muzzle greyhounds in open coursing here in Eire. Well that's it now for me. I might never attend another coursing meeting. They've given in to pressure and when greyhounds are breaking their necks because of the muzzle and hares are being ran to a standstill because the dogs can't kill them the anti's will be there with their cameras getting more ammunition for their cause, when in reality it's the stupid muzzles that will be causing the harm. He told me that some of the
  6. I know a lad who's into Muslim women. He's even got himself a Muslim inflatable sex doll. It blows itself up.
  7. Makes me laugh. Most vets are opposed to docking yet they're the worst culprits at butchering tails way to close to the base.
  8. Your lurcher roaming PK reminds me of two lurchers I had when I was young. Windy and Blue they were called and I use to let them out for an hour every morning before I'd go to school. They were proper old fashioned pot fillers and Windy often brought rabbits home. Anyway, one morning I went to put them in and the two of them were sitting on the patio out back looking all guilty. Plus they were covered in blood. I looked them over and they fine, bloody but fine. Anyways, my brother was at primary school at the time and that morning the teacher asked the class had anyone their news from the w
  9. A magical formula ? Now there's something that would make a man a lot of money, LOL. Mind you, there's manys a fellow says he has it.
  10. I've been getting braver with pheasant lately (done one in cider last week, beautiful) so I might do something different with my next Woodcock (when I get one) but I usually keep it simple as I think they're beautiful and don't need messing with. I cooked one and a snipe last year with the guts in, never again, the guts popped inside and tainted the meat. I also remove the head. An old timer I know who's big into eating game said to me once that eating woodcock and snipe with the guts in is an old method that goes back to a time before there was such a thing as pollution and any pollution th
  11. The words "Lunatics" "asylum" and "taking over" spring to mind. I hope he wins, it will make life even more interesting.
  12. IMO the Springer Spaniel IS the best breed on average to beat cover and if brought out with ferrets often enough they would become good markers of burrows. But they wont catch a bolted rabbit. Taken out often enough most lurchers will also mark used burrows AND they will catch bolted rabbits. Different dogs for different jobs.
  13. I cried for a full ten minutes after watching Die Hard 4. I said to myself "there's 2 hours of my f***ing life I wont get back."
  14. When I was young I remember a farmer telling me that when they were all young, so you'd be talking about the 40s or so, that all the lads in the parish would go out hunting after Mass on a Sunday morning with a pack of dogs of every description and everyone would be carrying a throwing stick. One Ol' boy told me that if a rabbit left covert and ran by you that you'd have to jump in the air as high as you could or else you'd get the legs took off you by a load of throwing sticks.
  15. The anti's have dug up a few bodies, including that of one of the most famous Huntsmen of all time. It say's a lot about them.
  16. There's no room for romance in breeding working dogs. Best to remember him as your racing dog not as a sire of curs. JMHO.
  17. Were you tempted to swap terriers Fatman, LOL. Yer one would get some shock if she looked into her yard and seen two black ones, LOL. It's good to see that not all pet dogs have lost the instinct. Years ago it wasn't that uncommon for working terriers to ramble and many's a terrier was took out on a Sunday morning still bearing the wear and tear it took on Saturday while doing it's own nixer. There used to be a lad a few mile from me with some great earths near the back of his house and more than a few times I'd be walking to the earths and I'd see his lurcher standing on the earth with his
  18. I read Socks post yesterday and said to myself that I presume that's a joke. Socks usually talks sense so I knew there was no way he was going to say and mean something so ludicrous. Either that or he meant to say English dogs, LOL.
  19. Ouch, loosing anything is never nice but your first ! It's an achievement in it's self to drop a snipe and the eating is the icing on the cake, hope you get a few this Winter. Then you'll be looking for your first left and right. Something I've never done. Last year I dropped a snipe, swung on a second and missed. Then 5 minutes later missed one, swung on a second and dropped it. I reckon a 50% strike rate on snipe is good going, LOL.
  20. Fox Finder I would well believe that you're more able to do all those things better than your husband. When you mentioned he was watching that Celebrity show his last grain of masculinity disappeared.
  21. Wild game is indeed the sport of Kings, you can't beat it. I just had a quick look over at Boards.ie on the shooting forum and there's a few lads on it saying there's a lack of Woodcock in their areas. A funny year for Woodcock.
