Its the only downside of forums for me.....in real life people stay in their own lane but from a keyboard become on the spot pundits. Look at the scientific whizz kids on the coronavirus topic or the war historians on the ve topic on here for example ?

We know they are playing great selfless roles,as do firemen,army etc etc but cant we all just get on with it without all the silly saucepan bashing,it was a nice gesture the first time but now its all become this cult of weekly narcissistic fakery with people getting named and shamed for not clapping...if everyone is a hero no one is a hero,in dying societies you are a hero just for showing up its like giving every kid participating in a race a medal it means nothing and has just become a platform for attention and control.....stop all this nonsense and show appreciation by paying them fairly

Listen to their stories yes but that doesnt mean you should go all emotional for them thats for their own people to do which im sure they do.....personally id find it a tad patronising to commemorate people we all wanted dead but each to their own.

Theres loads of Martello towers all around the world still.....theres one in Sydney Harbour if im not wrong....i used to have a few bits of property on the East Coast around Clacton close to a few of them i think theres still 10 or 12 down that part of the coast Frinton/Walton etc i think a few of them have been bought for residential but the majority of them in Britain at least are listed buildings.
